Mystery Photo 7-25

Here we are, our last Mystery Photo for July. That means the summer is more than half over and Halloween season is just around the corner. Granted, for most of us, Halloween is all year round. Just need to get those temps down outside! Our last photo was from the little anthology film Nightmares (1983), in the segment “The Benediction” with Lance Henriksen battling a truck from hell. Always one of my favorites from that period. Kudos to the following that sent in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron Christensen, Lee Nattrass, and Will Wilson. Great job!

For those that thought that last photo was tough, this one might be a little harder, unless you’re a fan of those pesky old black and white films. Just remember to send me your answer in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 7-18

Sure, sure, a little late in the day but still got time until the stroke of midnight, right? So let’s not waste any more time. Our photo from last week was that of the fine actor Alberto Dalbés from his role as Dr. Seward in Jess Franco’s epic The Erotic Rites of Frankenstein (1973). You want to see a bat-shit crazy movie, that includes a silver Frankenstein’s monster and some sort of bird/lady creature than look no further! Kudos to the following that sent in the correct answer: Aaron AuBuchon, Dave Fronto, and Troy Howarth.

On to this week’s photo! Sure, might look like an ad to get you to buy a new vehicle, but not quite. Take a peek and see if you can recognize which film this appeared in. And no, it’s not just some random shot of a truck. Give me a little more credit than that! Don’t forget though, send your answer to me in an email (so I won’t lose it) to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 7-11

Is it Halloween season yet? For any of those sun-lovers out there who just love the heat, I’m sorry but I’ll be happy when the temps are hitting the ’50s and we have those dark and cloudy days. But until then, I guess we’ll just worry about getting a new Mystery Photo up before the day is over! We only had two correct answers for last week’s photo, which was from Werner Herzog’s 1979 version of Nosferatu. I knew I couldn’t put a shot of Kinski up since EVERYONE would have known it then! But kudos out to Troy Howarth and Mike Tutino for sending in the correct answer. Nice job, guys!

For this week’s photo, we’re wading through some obscure waters, or at least for a lot of you. But maybe for those that are using to doing more than dipping your toe into the strange and weird, you might recognize this shot. If you do, send your answer to me, at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Either way, Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 7-4

Happy Monday! I know it is for me because I’m not at work right now, so that is always a happy day! But since I’m here at the computer working on the site, I guess I really am still at work. Except the fact that I’ve never considered the Krypt as “work”. All for the love of the game, as they say. So, let’s get back to it! Last week’s photo was from Guillermo del Toro’s 1997 film Mimic, which I know he’s not a fan of because of the interference he got, but I still like it. Granted, if we would have gotten to see his full vision, I think it would be even better. But congrats to the following that sent in the correct answer: Dahlia Daniels, Vincent Simonelli, and William Wilson. Great job.

Now this week’s little pic might be pretty easy, or pretty tough. Then again, I say that a lot, don’t I. I guess you’ll just have to take a peek and see where you stand! Remember, just send your answer to me through email (I have a lesser chance of losing it that way!) to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 6-27

Welcome to another Monday, and our last Mystery Photo for June! That means we’re the summer is 1/3 over and we’re that much closer to Halloween! Okay, so you may not be as excited about it as I am . . . but let’s get to why we are here. I was very happy to see all the correct answers sent in for our last photo, which was from the Amicus film And Now the Screaming Starts! (1973). What an amazing cast, huh? Including the one in the photo, the stellar Rosalie Crutchley, who is probably best known to horror fans as the strange Mrs. Dudley in Robert Wise’s The Haunting (1963). While Amicus was usually known for their anthology films, they could still belt out a great feature film that was effective and entertaining. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Dada Debaser, Chris Dyer, Hector Fernandez, Dave Fronto, Kevin Hart, Bob Hartman, Brett Harrison, Troy Howarth, Gary McGuire, Charles Miller, Gary Miller, Bryan Senn, Michael Shields, Vincent Simonelli, Alan Tromp, and Greg Wojick. Well done!

Now on to this week’s photo. Might be a little different but let us see what you can come up with. Take a peek, put some thought into it, and then send us your guess in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 6-20

Running a little late today but we still got one posted! But before we get to our new one, let’s go over last week’s photo. The photo was from the one and only The Hideous Sun Demon (1958), starring (not to mention producing and directing) Robert Clarke! Such a fun little movie that is more than worth your time if you haven’t gotten around to it. I swear, it’s hard to go wrong with sci-fi/horror flicks of the ’50s. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Chris Dyer, Bob Hartman, Kevin Hart, Bryan Senn, Michael Shields, and Alan Tromp. Well done!

Okay, this one might not be as easy, but we’ll see how sharp some of you are. Take a good look, then send your guess to us in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 5-30

Sorry that we didn’t have an updated photo last week but were a bit too busy getting ready for our trip to Ohio for the Columbus Moving Picture Show. But we’re back and somewhat rested up, so here we go. The last photo was from the 1991 H.P. Lovecraft film The Resurrected, starring Chris Sarandon and directed by Dan O’Bannon. While probably a little more graphic than Lovecraft would have expected, it’s a damn fine picture if you ask me! Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Chadwick Saint John, Nick Wilson, and William Wilson. Well done!

On to this week’s photo. Might be a little tricky but we’ll see how you can do with what you’re seeing. Don’t forget to send your answer to me in an email (so I don’t lose it . . . though no guarantee) to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 5-16

Another late posting, but still got it up, so that counts! Always try to get these ready to go over the weekend but seemed to have kept myself busy with some other things. But here we are! Our last photo was from the classic Mexican horror film El Vampiro from 1957, starring Abel Salazar and Germán Robles. If you haven’t seen this one, I can’t express how important of a title it is, not only because it’s a great film, but it shows what the Mexican studious were cranking out in the late ’50s. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Todd Barwick, Dave Fronto, Bob Hartman, Kevin Hart, Gary McGuire, Bryan Senn, and Alan Tromp. Well done!

On to this week’s photo. Not as much as an older classic like our last photo, but still a great little film. Check it out and see if you recognize where it is from. Just remember to email me your answer (to jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 5-9

A little late in the day for this update but it still counts. Actually, the fact that I’m still alive after getting our lawn, or whatever that wild growth of green and weeds was that I just ran over with my lawnmower, I guess that should be a positive for today, right? And it’s only going to get warmer out, which means it’s almost time for the A/C and avoiding the sunlight even more!

Okay, enough babbling. Last week’s photo was from the Val Lewton classic I Walked with a Zombie (1943), which I had to put up there since we just passed his birthday. Kudos to the following who sent in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Dada Debaser, Dave Fronto, Kevin Hart, Bob Hartman, Troy Howarth, Gary McGuire, Bryan Senn, and Kristin Wicks. Always nice to see fans of the Lewton films out there.

Now on to this week’s photo. Give a little peek and see what you think! Just remember to send your guess to us at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 5-2

Welcome to May! One month closer to October and Halloween, right? We’re more than halfway there! But let’s get down to business. Our photo from last week, which a lot of people recognized right away, was from the 1958 “Hammer-ish” film Blood of the Vampire, written by Jimmy “Frankenstein” Sangster, which was how he was actually billed on the poster art. While it obviously isn’t a Hammer production, I’ve always found it pretty entertaining. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Dave Fronto, Kevin Hart, Bob Hartman, Troy Howarth, Erik Martin, Gary McGuire, Bryan Senn, Vincent Simonelli, and Michael Shields. Well done!

Now believe it or not, but it seems this week’s photo is our first black and white pic of the year. I was kind of surprised myself. So why not have the first one from a classic. You believe me, right? Or am I trying to trick you? Either way, take a look below and see what you think. Just send us an email with your guess to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!
