Mystery Photo 11-14

Happy Monday! We’re halfway through the month and should start seeing the snow anytime now! Ain’t that grand? Yeah, so while I’m not a huge fan of the snow, I will take it over 90-degree weather with a blazing sun. Besides, when it gets really cold outside, that just means it’s perfect time to stay inside and watch movies or read books! Okay, down to business. Last week’s photo was from the strange little film The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (1976). I know a lot of people did not like Martin Seen for a long time after his role here. And if that didn’t do it, his character in 1983’s The Dead Zone definitely would have! Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Kevin Hart, Christopher Highland, and Rory Vargas Schutt. Well done!

Now to this week’s photo. Might look familiar, like you’d seen it years ago. Or maybe last week? Or not at all? That’s the fun part. Take a look and see what you can come up with. Just remember, send your answer to us in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-7

Yes, Halloween is now in the past for this year, but we all know that Halloween is a state of mind, and not a season that comes around once a year. For us horror fans, it is all year round! Granted, now I might have a little more free time to get some other projects done as well as get a few more updates here as well! So, let’s get started!

I had a feeling the last photo was going to stump a few people since it is a pretty obscure title. So, if you didn’t get it, don’t feel too bad. It is from the film I Like Bats (1986), a Polish film recently released on Blu-ray from Severin Films. Definitely a curious one, that is for sure.

On to this week’s photo, which might be a little easier to some. Just take a peek and see what you can come up with. Just remember to send your guess to me in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 10-31

Happy Halloween!!! I know it’s still a Monday, hence the new Mystery Photo, but hopefully either today, or over this last weekend, everyone was able to enjoy the holiday, get some fright flicks watched, as well as get to hang out with fellow horror fans to just have a good time!

I was pleasantly surprised at the number of correct answers sent in for our last photo. Without having the main star from the film, but just a shot of some tortured women, I didn’t think it was that easy. But I was wrong! The film title is actually Die Schlangengrube und das Pendel (1967), but is one of those that has been retitled more than a few times with names like The Blood Demon, Blood of the Virgins, Castle of the Walking Dead, but most notably as The Torture Chamber of Dr. Sadism, starring Christopher Lee. So big kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Todd Barwick, Dave Fronto, Bob Hartman, Troy Howarth, Gary McGuire, Bryan Senn, Michael Shields, Vincent Simonelli, Alan Tromp, Todd Warren, Nick Wilson.

Since the last one was a little too easy apparently, we’re going to go with one a little tougher. Well, maybe. But take a peek and see what pops into your head! Just remember to email me your answer (at jon@kitleyskrypt.com) otherwise I might forget! Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 10-24

I was very happy to see so many correct answers on our last photo, mainly because that is a favorite of mine! The funny thing is that for the longest time, I just remembered seeing the trailer and had to wait to finally find a bootleg copy of it to actually see it! And the trailer didn’t let me down! Of course, the film is The Car from 1977. I’m not a car-guy, but one day I’d like to own one like that. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron Christensen, Dahlia Daniels, Bob Hartman, Rick Hayden, Ken Johnson, John Meredith, Jeff Owens, James Schmeichel, and Michael Shields. Well done!

Now on to this week’s photo, which might be a little trickier, since there are probably more than a few films with shots like this in it! So, let’s see how well you know them! Just remember to send your guess to me by email, at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 10-17

Welcome back to Monday, and we’re at the halfway point for October. Hopefully everyone is able to spend some time enjoying the season, watching a few fun flicks, maybe going to a convention, or maybe a movie screening or two. There’s definitely plenty going on, that is for sure, because I know our plate is more than full! We just returned from Monster Bash out in PA and had a lot of fun, even adding a few more titles to my book library, which is always nice!

Okay, let’s get down to business. Last week’s photo from Lady Terminator (1989) and is a site to behold if you haven’t seen it. Yes, there just might be some similarities to the James Cameron film, but it is so over the top, funny, and damn entertaining. A PERFECT entry for anyone’s Turkey Day marathon. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Richard Garcia, Bob Hartman, and Lee Nattrass. Great job.

This week’s photo might be easy, but we’re going to try and throw you off the path with this particular photo. Does that help? Just remember to send your guess to us in an email (so I don’t lose it) to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 10-10

Are we having fun yet? I mean, we’re already a third way October and there has already been so much going on that it does seem like it is flying by, for better or for worse. But let’s keep the fun going, right? Our photo from last week was from the 1974 film Dark Places, starring Christopher Lee, Joan Collins, Herbert Lom, and Robin Hardy, that was recently released on Blu-ray by Severin Films in the Eurocrypt of Christopher Lee Collection 2. Hopefully this box set puts some light on this underrated little film. Great cast and a decent story. Congrats to Dave Fronto and Troy Howarth for sending in the correct answer.

This week’s photo is quite different than our last one. Oh yeah. But it’s a fun one, that is for sure. Just remember to send your guess to me in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 10-3

I apologize for the lack of updates last week, but it was a doozy. Since we are now in our favorite month, it is going to be a busy one. Got a lot of prep work to get done for different events this month so we’re slowly trying to knock them out. Which means less time spend here. But I’ve got plenty of stuff to report, just need to whittle out some time to work on it.

But let’s get down to business. Last week’s photo was from last year’s Antlers (2021), starring Keri Russell and Jeremy T. Thomas. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. It is well worth your time. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Todd Barwick, Chris Dyer, Kevin Hart, Eli LaChance, Gary McGuire, John E Meredith, and Lee Nattrass. Great job everyone!

This week’s photo isn’t from last year . . . or is it? (Insert devilish laugh here). Take a gander at it and see if you can place it. Just remember to send your answer to me in an email (that way I remember it) at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 9-26

Yeah, a wee bit later than normal, but I didn’t forget. So much going on right now but it is all good stuff and that I brought upon myself so I can’t complain. Well, I could, but nobody will listen . . .

Okay, enough whining, let’s get to the Mystery Photo, right! Last week’s photo from from the 1957 film The Vampire, starring John Beal. While not really a supernatural vampire film, it is still a fun watch. And boy, when that image pops up that I used for the mystery pic, didn’t expect that for a film back then! Only got three correct answers sent in and they were from: Hoby Abernathy, Kevin Hart, and Bob Hartman! Well done!

This week’s photo is a little newer than 1957, but we’ll see how easy it might be. Take a peek and see what you think! As always, remember to send your guess to me in an email (makes it easier for me to remember!) to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 9-19

I apologize for not only no Mystery Photo last Monday, but also for the lack of updates. Last weekend was HorrorHound and that was quite a weekend. In a good way, but exhausted when I got home. Plus, with October looming over, I’ve got a lot on my plate right now. Granted, I kept asking for it, so I have no one to blame but myself. But if the passion is still burning, might as well keep throwing wood on it! Enough of that. Let’s get to the business at hand. Our last photo was from the Lovecraft “inspired” film The Shuttered Room (1967), starring Oliver Reed and Carol Lynley. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Gregory Avery, Dada Debaser, Dave Fronto, Kevin Hart, Charles Miller, Lee Nattrass, Michael Shields, and Nick Wilson. Well done!

Going for something a little more obscure with this week’s photo, so buckle up and put those thinking caps on! Take a peek and see what you think. Just remember, send your guess to me in an email, at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 9-5

That’s right, folks. It is officially September, which means Halloween is just a short time away. Granted, we all know that every day is Halloween, right! But let’s get to business. Our photo from last week was from French director Jean Rollin’s 1972 film Requiem pour un vampire, or as most know it as Requiem for a Vampire or even Caged Virgins. No matter how you feel about Rollin and his work, you can’t take away from the imagery that he gave us, and the shot I used is a perfect example. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron AuBuchon, Brian Doerin, Dave Fronto, Bob Hartman, Lee Nattrass, Bryan Senn, Michael Shields, and Kristin Wicks. Well done. Always love it when one of these cult filmmakers gets some attention!

For our first photo of September, I thought I’d go with something a little more mainstream. Well, a little. Let’s see if you recognize this one. Just remember, send your guess to me in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!
