Mystery Photo 10-15

I know it’s late on Monday, but I couldn’t go two weeks without a Mystery Photo. Just got back from Chicago from a screening of Frankenstein (1931) but knew I had to get this updated before I crash. So let’s get to it! Our last photo from two weeks ago was in tribute to the recent Cinema Wasteland convention, My Bloody Valentine (1981). I did find it interesting that a few people were sending in guesses with an Italian giallo, which really shows that the slasher film is the American cousin to them. Sure, a distant cousin, but definitely related. Kudos out to the following for sending in the correct answer: David Friedman, Angela Hermann, and William Wilson.

And now, this week’s photo! As always, please don’t post your answers here so others have a chance. Just send us your guess in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

YEAH! It’s finally October! That means we only have 31 days to really enjoy the Halloween Season before the biggest commercial holiday hits us! So let us horror fans make sure we do whatever we can to enjoy each and every one of these 31 days! I’m not sure how many updates I’ll have throughout the month, mainly due to all the conventions, marathons, and other events we have planned, but I’ll do my best.

But let us start it off with a new Mystery Photo, shall we? Last week’s photo was from Screamers (1979). Now if you said Island of the Fishmen, I would accept that, though technically this particular shot is from the footage that was added to the American release to the film, to help calm down the crowds at the drive-in who were pissed because the American ad campaign stated that you’d actually get to see a man turned inside out, which wasn’t in the original version. Oh the sordid tales of PR in low budget filmmaking. But kudos to the following that sent in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Angela Hermann, Troy Howarth, Gavin Schmitt, Michael Shields, and William Wilson. Well done!

For our first October photo, we’re going to with something a little traditional. Take a peek and see what you think. As always, please remember not to post your answers here so others can have a chance. Send your guess to me at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 9-24

A little late today, but still got it posted. Busy weekend at the Drive-in, so it kind of drained me on Sunday. Getting too old to be staying up so late!

Anyway, our photo from last week was of course from Dario Argento’s Tenebre (1982). Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Wendy Bodine, Troy Howarth, Bryan Martinez, Baron Martino, and William Wilson.

Now to this week’s photo, which again, might be a little tougher. Or not. Take a look and see what you can come up with. I will say there is a little trick here, but since it’s almost October, I figured I’d start early. Please remember not to post your answers here, so that others can have a chance. Just send me your guess in an email (jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!

Just as I expected, we didn’t get too many correct responses from our last photo. Had a few good guesses, but the only one that came through was Hoby Abernathy. It might make you feel better by knowing that according to author Caelum Vatnsdal, he stated that this film “just might be the rarest Canadian horror film ever made.” The film is Corpse Eaters and came out in 1974. It did get a DVD release some time ago, but even those are pretty tough to find. It is available on YouTube though, so I would suggest checking it out. Don’t expect a lost classic, but it is cheesy and fun.

So let’s get to this week’s photo, which I will say might be a wee bit easier than that last one. As always, please remember not to post your answers here so others can have a chance at guessing. Just send your answers to us in an email (jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 9-10

Welcome to another day closer to Halloween! Even though we have been getting ready long before now. But with the temps starting to drop, it really helps get in the mood, doesn’t it?

But let’s get back down to business, shall we? Last week’s photo was from the uber-entertaining film from Claudio Fragasso’s Zombie 4: After Death. So much fun. So much gore. So much blood. So much cheese. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Angela Hermann, William Wilson, and Greg Wojick. Well done!

Now on to this week’s photo. This is going to be a little tougher I think. But we’ll see. Take a good look and see what you can come up with. Good luck….you’ll need it.

Please remember NOT to post your answers here so others can have a guess. Just send your guess to me in an email (jon@kitleyskrypt.com).

Mystery Photo 9-4

So…I guess it’s been a little while since we’ve had a new Mystery Photo. And yeah, I know it’s actually Tuesday, since today is the first day of my work week, we’ll pretend it is Monday. But before we get to the new pic, let’s review our last one from a couple of weeks ago. It was from Pupi Avati’s 1976 film La casa dalle finestre che ridono, or as it’s known here in the states, The House of the Laughing Windows. Kudos to the following to sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Cate Cameron, Troy Howarth, Gary Laughner, Bryan Martinez, Martin Meeks, Michael Shields. Nicely done!

Now let’s get to this week’s photo. Something a little cheesier, but in the same vein, so to speak. So take a peak and good luck.

But please remember, do not post your answers here so that others can have a chance at guessing it. So don’t leave a comment, but send me an email (at jon@kitleyskrypt.com) and let me know your guess. Good Luck!

Is the summer over yet??? Really can’t wait for fall to get here, and not even for the obvious reason of the Halloween season. Just want this damn heat to end! Okay…done with the personal ranting…let’s get down to business. The photo from last week was from The Hanging Woman, aka Beyond the Living Dead, Dracula the Terror of the Living Dead, Return of the Zombies, The Orgy of the Dead, Zombie 3: Return of the Living Dead, and in Australia it was even called Bracula: The Terror of the Living Dead! So we did have a few that might have known the correct movie but had sent in a title that wasn’t one of the above. But we did have a few that did send in a correct one and those were: Hoby Abernathy, Troy Howarth, Michael Shields, and Tal Zimerman. Kudos, my friends.

Oh…did I mention that one of the co-stars of this film is Paul Naschy? If you know me…anytime I can mention this icon of horror, I’m going to!

So let’s get to this week’s photo, shall we? Might be another tough one. You’ll just have to look and see what comes to that gray matter between your ears. PLEASE remember not to post your answers here. Just send them to me in an email (jon@kitleyskrypt.com) that way everyone can have a chance at guessing. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 8-13

Yes, I know. I didn’t have a new photo posted last Monday. Mainly due to the weekend at the Flashback convention as well as it being hot and muggy with no A/C, so I just didn’t have the motivation. But I was able to manage to work through the sweat and get one for this week. Just FYI…sweating arms and vinyl chair armrests…not a good match!

So last week’s pic was from the 1987 flick The Outing, also known as The Lamp. Not the greatest movie but a nice little return to the ’80s that wasn’t a slasher film. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Adam Knabe, Gary Miller, William Wilson. Well done, people! Well done, indeed.

Now on to this week’s photo. Take a peek and see what you can come up with. But as always, PLEASE remember not to post your answers here so that others can have a guess. Instead, just send us an email (to jon@kitleyskrypt.com) with your guess. Good Luck!

Another couple of days and we’ll be in the last stages of summer, and I personally can’t wait for it to be over. Sure, it might have something to do with our AC being on the fritz, but can’t wait for these summer temps to be done with, at least for a while. In the meantime, let’s get to last week’s photo. It was from the strange German film Die Nackte und der Satan (1959), or better known here in the states as simply The Head. This is a strange little film, with a lot of very suggestive scenes, not to mention one crazy-ass plot! But damn fun to watch! Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Troy Howarth, Charles Miller, Michael Shields, Alan Tromp, and Barry Watts. Well done!

Now on to this week’s photo. Maybe not as obscure as our last one, but we’ll see how easy it is to guess. Just remember…PLEASE do not post your answers here, so others can have a guess at it. Instead, just send your guess to us in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 7-23

We had a few more correct guesses last week. It was from the first film in Amando de Ossorio’s famous Blind Dead series, Tombs of the Blind Dead (1972). Kudos out to the following: Hoby Abernathy, Ronnie Burton, Troy Howarth, and Martin Meeks.

So on to this week’s photo. This one might be a little tougher and require some more brain power. Maybe that’s what the guy in the photo is trying to do!

As always, please remember not to post your answers here in the comments section so others can have a guess. Just send your guess to us in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good luck!
