Mystery Photo 1-6

Welcome to 2020, and to a whole new year of Mystery Photos! I really hope everyone enjoys these little pictorial puzzles we bring each Monday, or at least try to! I always say that my devious plan is to put these movie titles in your brain that way if you haven’t seen them, it may get you seek them out. Plus, if you have seen them, sometimes its a nice remembering of some great (and admittedly not so great sometimes) movies out there. So here’s hoping to another year of good suggestions for you.

Our photo from last week came from Finland and is called The White Reindeer. This came out in 1952. So it is pretty obvious from the photo, this fanged vampire film pre-dated both Hammer’s Horror of Dracula (1958) and Mexico’s El Vampiro (1957) by a few years. Don’t feel bad, but I just found that out myself! Just shows you that you can always learn something new about the genre, no matter how long you’ve been a fan. Kudos out to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron Christensen, Bob Hartman, and Vincent Simonelli. Well done, indeed!

So our first photo of the new year hopefully will be a classic as well some day. Take a peek at it and see what you can come up with. As always, please remember not to post your answers here so that others can have a guess. The easiest way to do it (and also the easiest way to make sure I don’t miss your guess), is to send me an email (jon@kitleyskrypt.com) with your guess. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 12-30

Welcome to the last Mystery Photo of 2019. This will be the 47th Photo we posted this year. Didn’t make it for a full 52 shots, but we were pretty close. Over the last decade, we’ve gone through 438 Mystery Photos. That is a lot of images that I’ve put in your brain. I also think it is some of these images that got me unfriended by some people, including my own family! I want to thank everyone that takes a peak at the photos I post, and to those that send in your guesses. I hope that those of you have haven’t seen the film the photo is posted from, once you learn what it is, that maybe you seek it out. That is, after all, my master plan! Hopefully it is working. But, as always, before we get to our last photo for the year, let’s review last week’s photo. It was a little easier but figured I’d throw you a bone for the holiday! It was from the 1974 film Madhouse, starring Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, and Robert Quarry. For a film that had a great cast, an interesting story, and some beautiful (and creepy) images, it is a shame the film isn’t better. But kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Gregory Avery, Todd Barwick, Craig J. Clark, Dave Fronto, Troy Howarth, Antoinette Keen, Doug Lamoreux, Michael Shields, Todd Warren, and Greg Wojick. Well done!

Okay, let’s get to our very last photo for this decade. This is going to be a tough one. As in up until a few months ago, I had never even heard of this film, so if you don’t know it, don’t fee bad. But once we reveal the title, I would suggest everyone to see it, if only for their Horror History! Anyway, give it a peek and see what you can come up with. As always, please remember not to post your answer in the comment section. Those do get posted when you do that and I’d like to let others have a chance at guessing. So don’t post it, but just send us an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com with your answer. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 12-23

While there weren’t a ton of correct answers sent in for our last photo, we did get a few, which thrills me to no end! This is definitely a Turkey Day film and is a lot of fun as well. The film was re-titled a couple of times as Blood Waters of Dr. Z and Attack of the Swamp Creatures, but the original title was simply Z.A.A.T. (1971). Produced on a very low budget in Florida, this little monster movie never made it big, but is still fondly remembered by a some. I mean, how could you forget a movie about a half man/half catfish? Congrats to the following that sent in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron Christensen, John-Paul Checkett, Bob Hartman, and William Wilson. Well done!

Now on to this week’s photo. The title of this movie is something that many of you have probably experienced the last week or so doing your holiday shopping. As always, please remember not to post your answers here so that others can have a guess at them. Just send your guess to us in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 12-16

Happy Monday! Sorry for the lack of updates this month, but with the holidays coming up, plus working on a lot of stuff for my Year End Reviews, it is taking more time than I planned! But hopefully it will be worth it. Okay…enough of that, lets get to the Mystery Photo! Our last photo was from the film Terror is a Man (1959). Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Michael Shields, and Vincent Simonelli. Well done!

So this week’s photo is a fun one, so hopefully a few of you out there recognize it. As always, please remember not to post your answers here so others can have a chance at it. Just send us your guess in an email (jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!

Mystery Photo

It seems the photo from last week was a bit too tough. Fair enough. The pic is from the movie Frostbiten (2006) and is a fun little vampire flick that takes place in the snow covered Sweden. Didn’t get any answers on this one so hopefully with this week’s photo, it will be a little easier. So let’s get at it!

As always, please don’t post your answers here so that others can have a chance at it. Just send us an email (jon@kitleyskrypt.com) with your guess. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 12-2

Since it is now December and some parts of the country are getting pelted with snow, I figured I’d throw in a season one… sort of. But before we get to the new photo, let’s go over last week’s photo. It was from the Spanish film Mientras duermes (2011), known here in the states as Sleep Tight. This is one disturbing film, my friends. In fact, after seeing actor Luis Tosar in this one, I’m not sure I can see him in another film without immediately not liking whatever character he might be playing! If you haven’t seen it, check it out. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron Christensen, Bryan Martinez, Tim Palace, Will Wilson, and Greg Wojick. Well done!

Okay, so for this week’s photo, the only hit is that there is snow in this one. There. Makes it easier already, doesn’t it? Give it a look and see what you can come up with. Please remember not to post your answers here so that others can have a chance at guessing. Just send your answer to me at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-25

Welcome to the last Monday of November. Time is just flying by, isn’t it? That just means spring will be here before we know it and a whole new year of conventions starting up! But before we get all excited about that, let us start the week off with a Mystery Photo. Last week’s was from Mario Bava’s Baron Blood (1972), definitely a must see in his filmography. Then again, aren’t most of his films? Congrats to the following for sending in the correct photo: Todd Barwick, Bob Hartman, Troy Howarth, and Todd Warren. Well done!

So let’s take a look at this week’s and see if it is any easier or harder than the last one. Let’s try and end November on a high note, shall we? As always, please do not post your answers here so that others can have a chance at guessing. Just send your guess to me (jon@kitleyskrypt.com) in an email. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-18

It is so great to see so many responses for a clip from a classic film, that I have to say isn’t the most obvious, but it still is so memorable that we got more responses with this one than we normally do! The shot is from the 1962 almost-lost film, Carnival of Souls. Congrats to these scholars who sent in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Dahlia Daniels, Dave Fronto, Bob Hartman, Ricky Hayden, Christopher Highland, Martin Meeks, Lee Nattrass, Tim Palace, Michael Shields, William Wilson, and Greg Wojick. Well done, people. Well done, indeed.

So here’s this week’s photo, some might consider a classic as well. Let’s see what you think. Take a good look and see what you can come up with. As always, please remember not to post your answers here so that others have a chance at guessing. Just send your guess to us in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-11

Welcome to Monday, once again! While not a lot sent in the correct answer for our last photo, I’m thrilled that some did. And now once I announce the title, I hope everyone seeks it out, because it definitely will be on my Best Of list this year. The film is Errementari: The Blacksmith and the Devil (2017), written and directed by Paul Urkijo Alijo. We stumbled across this earlier this year and since it was produced by Álex de la Iglesia, I knew that was a good enough reason to give it a chance and I wasn’t disappointed. It plays like a fairy tale, not like Disney, but one from Grimms, much darker and just damn cool! Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron Christensen, Lee Nattrass, Kristin Wicks, and Will Wilson. Well done!

So let’s get to this week’s photo! This is another one of those old classics that should never be forgotten, so hopefully it will be easy for everyone. Give it a look and see what you can come up with. As always, please don’t post your answer here so everyone can have a chance at it. Just send it to us in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-4

Welcome to our first post Halloween Mystery Photo. The difference is… Nothing! Another Monday and another pictorial puzzle! So let’s get to it! Our last photo was from the film Southbound (2015), a really good anthology film that I would urge everyone to check out, if you haven’t already. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Craig Clark, Dustin Moravich, and Gavin Schmitt. Well done, lads!

So let’s get to this week’s photo. This is another one that I’ve been trying to get people to watch, so this is yet ANOTHER attempt! As always, please do not post your answers here so that others can have a chance at guessing. Just send your guess to us in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!
