Mystery Photo 1-24

As easy the photo a week ago was, it seems our last photo was a little tougher bone to chew. Which I’m kind of surprised with all the talk of the recent box set on Folk Horror that Severin put out. It is from the film Tilbury, which is included in that fine set. A very strange film, indeed. The only one to send in a correct answer was Hoby Abernathy, so kudos to you!

This week we’ll go with one a little easier, at least we hope so. Take a peek below and see what you think. Just remember to email us your guess, at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 1-17

Welcome to Monday. The start of another week where we hope for a more positive outcome of our world. We can hope, right? As hard as it is, if we can make one person smile this week, or make one person’s day better, than I think that’s a good start. I’m going to try and do that with a little pictorial puzzle. Before we get to this week’s photo, I was surprised at the number of correct guesses for last week’s photo. Here I was thinking that because you couldn’t see Jonathan Frid’s face, it might be a little tougher. You guys proved me wrong! It was of course from Dan Curtis’ House of Dark Shadows (1970), the big screen version of the TV series. Kudos out to the following: Hoby Abernathy, Dave Fronto, Kevin Hart, Bob Hartman, Troy Howarth, Doug Lamoreux, Gary McGuire, Jeff Owens, Bryan Senn, Michael Shields, Vincent Simonelli, Mark Turner, Dave Voigt, Todd Warren, and William Wilson. Well done, indeed!

Now this photo is not going to be as easy, that I promise you, so we’ll how clever all of you are! Take a peek below and send in your guess in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 1-10

If you ever wandered the video store aisles back in the ’80s, then you most likely came across the box for our photo from last week. A big box case with one of those monkeys with the symbols on it, almost like it was watching you as you walked by! The film is The Attic (1980) starring Carrie Snodgress and Ray Milland. A little slow but definitely worth seeing, if only for Snodgress’ performance and to see how much of a jerk Milland can be! Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Kevin Hart, Gary Miller, & William Wilson. Well done.

Okay, this week’s photo might be pretty easy, or a little tougher than you think. Let’s see how good you are. Take a peek and see what you can come up with. Remember, just send your answer to me through email (so I don’t forget) to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 1-3

Welcome to the new year! Hopefully everyone stayed safe over the holiday and is ready to start the new year right! And what better way to do that than get that brain working on a little pictorial puzzle? But first, our last photo from 2021 was from Invasion of the Blood Farmers (1972). Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron AuBuchon, Kevin Hart, Bob Hartman, Alan Tromp, William Wilson, and Greg Wojick. Well done!

For our first photo of the year, we decided to pick something a little obscure, but not too much, especially if you were one that was constantly browsing the video aisles back in the ’80s. You definitely would have remembered the box for this one. Just a little hint to start off the year right! As always, just send your answer to me at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 12-20

Welcome to Monday! Our last one before the big holiday this weekend, and one more week closer to calling this year over. Still hoping it will be better next year but doesn’t look like we’re heading in that direction anytime soon. But back to the task at hand. Our photo from last week was from the 2010 Hong Kong film Dream Home. First time I watched this one, it just blew me away. I’ve seen it several times since then and it still packs one hell of a punch. Not for the light-hearted, that is for sure. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Christopher Dyer, Kevin Hart, and Bryan Martinez. Well done!

Now on to this week’s photo. Another “new” title for me and I just loved it, so wanted to pass it on here. Take a peek and see if you recognize it. Just send your answer to me at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 12-13

I would have had this posted earlier, but good old Infinity decided on the day I took off work to be “working on repairing” an outage in my area, so I just go my internet back on. I mean, how did we ever live without this?!?!? Madness. Our photo from last week is from the Jean Rollin 1982 film La morte vivante, or more commonly known as The Living Dead Girl. While I’m not a huge fan of all of Rollin’s work, I do really like this one! Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron AuBuchon, Troy Howarth, & James Turner. Well done!

This week’s photo is another favorite of mine, so let us see who else might recognize it. Just remember to email me your guess (to jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 12-6

Sorry for the late posting here but got the booster shot yesterday and it is kicking my butt! Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be back to normal. Well, whatever normal is! Okay . . . welcome to our first Mystery Photo of December! We’re leaving the Turkeys behind and going on to our regular photos. But before we get to today’s, let us cover last week’s mystery pic. It was from Children of the Corn: Runaway (2018), which no one correctly identified! I will say, out of all of the CotC movies I’ve seen, this was by far my favorite. Not sure why it has such a low rating on IMDB, but director John Gulager did a decent job telling a story of someone dealing with the demons of their past after they had escaped a cult.

But enough of that. Let’s get to this week’s photo. Take a peek below and see if you recognize it. Just remember, send me your guess in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-29

Well folks, November is almost over, so this will be our last official Turkey Mystery Photo for the year. I’m sure you’ll see some more turn up throughout the year, but not all the time like this month. So . . . some have argued the ones I have posted were not Turkeys, but that’s the good thing about having your own website! But I love that some are that passionate about these titles as I am. Our last photo was from The Head (1959), which is a lot of fun! Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron AuBuchon, Peggy Christie, Kevin Hart, Troy Howarth, Gary McGuire, Charles Miller, Lee Nattrass, Bryan Senn, and Michael Shields. I was very happy to see this many people knowing this film. Very cool.

So, let’s get to our photo for today. Might seem easy right away, but is it? Take a look and see if you can figure which film it is from. Just remember, send your guess to us in an email at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-22

Continuing our trend for Turkeys this month with these Mystery Photos, we have another slice of fun for you to decipher! But first, let’s review last week’s photo. Unless I lost an email somewhere (which wouldn’t be the first time), it looks like we only have 1 correct answer sent in. The shot is from the film Last Rites (1980), also known as Dracula’s Last Rites. It’s been years since I’ve even seen this one but I remember it being pretty brutal. Which means of course, it will probably end up screening on a Turkey Day at some point! Kudos to Hoby Abernathy for sending it the only correct answer. Well done!

This week’s photo is another classic Turkey. I have seen this one a few times and it is so much fun. See if you can recognize where this cranium is from? Just remember to send your answer to us in an email (to jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-15

I was very surprised at the number of correct answers I got for our last photo. For some reason, I thought it was a little more obscure than that, but damn if we didn’t get 12 correct answers sent in! The photo was from the 1958 film Terror from the Year 5000! I mean, how great of a title is that to begin with! I do remember learning that to stop contamination from something that is radioactive, you just needed to submerge it in water! Such a fun piece of cinema. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Dan Brenneis, Chris Dyer, Dave Fronto, Kevin Hart, Bob Hartman, Gary McGuire, Charles Miller, Bryan Senn, Michael Shields, Vincent Simonelli, and Alan Tromp. Nicely done!

In case you didn’t notice, I’m using films that some might consider Turkeys. Granted, we all know that doesn’t mean they are bad but damn entertaining. Believe it or not, but Terror from the Year 5000 has a 2.9 rating on IMDB! Bollocks, I say! But we will be continuing that theme for the rest of the month, just to give you a little head’s up. Ready for this week’s photo? See below and see what you think. Just remember to send your guess to us in an email (at jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!
