HorrorHound Approaches!

In just a few days, we’ll be heading to Cincinnati for our first convention of the year and looking forward so much to getting back into the swing of things. It’s been five months since our last show and we’re chomping at the bit to see all our horror family this weekend! We’ll be set up there with our usual array of horror reference books which is a great place to continue your journey to Discover the Horror! And because this is our first show of the year, we’re going to have several great titles on sale! So, make sure you stop by our table to see what we have in store for you!

Plus, we’ll have some other goodies like some soundtracks, DVDs and Blu-rays, and maybe even some magazines we’re getting rid of from our own collection.

Flashback Approaches!

Our first real convention since October of 2019 is only 2 weeks away, and it looks like it is going to be HUGE! Moving to a new location, the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, this place looks to be not only a much bigger location, but is going to allow for even more fun. I can’t wait to be able to hang out with all our convention friends and family once again. It really has been way too long.

Book Cover Art 22819Next weekend, we’ll be heading back to Indianapolis for the HorrorHound Weekend, which looks to be one massive gathering of horror fans! Taking place at the Indiana Convention Center, this one looks like it will be HorrorHound’s biggest show yet! With an incredible lineup of guests, tons of different dealers, as well as Mask-Fest, it is going to be a horror fans dream come true.

We will be set up there as usual, with our booths being in M04 & M05. It’s great that they have a listing of where the different dealers are, which should make it so much easier to find a particular one if you so desire. You can see the layout I posted below, where I’ve circled where we are. Just so yo can find us even easier! We will also be selling copies of my new book, Discover the Horror, so if you haven’t ordered your copy already, now is your chance to pick one up and I’ll even sign it for you, free of charge, of course! DtH at Flashback

We had an amazing time at Flashback Weekend (pictured above with filmmaker John Borowski), even selling a few more copies of my book, Discover the Horror. I got to do a little Q&A on Saturday morning to talk about the book (thanks Mike & Mia!!!) and answer a few questions. My good friend Bryan Martinez not only recorded it, but made a nice little video out of it, with film clips and all! You can see it below.

Please remember that if you have read the book, PLEASE go on to Amazon and post a review. It doesn’t have to be an essay, but can just be a sentence or two. For this year, we will be calling it the Discover the Horror Tour 2019! HorrorHound This Weekend!

In just a few days, we’ll have the van loaded up once again ready to make our trip to another convention. This time out, it will be for the HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis, where that show started over ten years ago. Except this time out, it will be at a new hotel than the one it has been at since the beginning. Kind of bummed about that since I really liked the hotel and area where it was at. But I understand how you can outgrow a hotel and need to make the move. Just really hoping for no surprises when we get there to set up…fingers crossed.

Once again, we will be set up there peddling our wares, looking for that exclusive bunch of people that still like to read about their favorite movies. So if you’re coming out to the show, make sure you stop by and say hello. We always like meeting our followers and putting faces to the names we see on emails and messages. Also this weekend at the Skyline Drive-In is their Super Monster Movie Fest, which starts on Friday night and then again on Saturday night, with 4 features each night. We are still planning to try to make it there both nights, but with the show going on and all, might make it a little more challenging, but we’ll see. The 20-Year Anniversary Kryptic World Tour Kicks Off Friday!

The waiting is almost over. This coming Friday will see the first stop in our 20-Year Anniversary Kryptic World Tour! That’s right, as I’ve may have mentioned once or twice before, this year marks my 20th year running the Krypt, so we hope to celebrate that even more at each and every show on this year’s tour. We have new T-shirts and even a couple of those enamel pins that everyone seems to be going crazy over, to help celebrate this milestone. And if you’re in the market for a new horror reference book, our inventory is bursting at the shelves, as we’ve been stockpiling over the winter and have some amazing titles for you to add to your own horror library! Some of the titles are in limited quantities (usually just one!) so make sure you hurry over to our table so you don’t lose out.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate everyone’s support over the last two decades, both here online as well as at the conventions. I know there are some of you that have been following my little ramblings for quite some time, so thank you!

Kryptic 20-Year-Old Anniversary Tour

meNext October, Kitley’s Krypt will officially be 20 years old. That’s right…that means come October, I’ll have been ranting and raving on my little world wide web soapbox for two whole decades. While I’m not 100% positive, I’m pretty sure the Krypt is the longest running site out here on this inter-web thingy, at least here in the States. That is a lot of ramblings over those years, and hopefully inciting a little spark or two in some of you to look and learn more about the horror genre, and to really Discover the Horror. That is a moniker that I still truly stand by and belief in.

Trust me, it’s hard sometimes for me to believe that I’m still at this and haven’t given up on it. There’s been a few times I thought about it, but always continued on. And sure, the Krypt isn’t one of the big boys on the block, but honestly, if that would mean being owned by a studio and having to give up some journalistic integrity, then I guess I’m pretty happy right where I’m at. But when it all comes down to it, I do this because this is what I love doing….talking about horror movies. It really is my life’s passion and one that I don’t see myself ever stopping. All I need to know is that I’ve given a fan a little push in the right direction, having them decide to look a little deeper into the genre, then I know I’ve done right by the genre.

World Tour Continues…

Last weekend, we were at the Cinema Wasteland show and just had a blast, as usual. They were having a Night of the Living Dead reunion, but to be honest, I never even made it to a single panel. I think this was the first time I didn’t take one single picture of any guests while I was there. It might have had something to do with that I was running the table by myself for the most part, though my good buddy Scott was there to watch it when needed. But really, and especially at this show, it really is about seeing my old friends and having the time to hang out and talk about the thing that binds us all together…horror movies! It really is the highpoint of the conventions for me these days. Maybe I’m just spoiled since I’ve been going to these things for close to 30 years and not too many guests that I either haven’t seen, or just don’t feel like paying the autograph fee, so I never even bother going up to talk to them. Ken does a good job keeping the prices low at Wasteland, but other shows…not so much. I know it’s a shame because there are some guests that are so nice and great to talk to. But more than not, these days they are there to take money from you and could really care less about a fan, unless your wallet is out. Yeah…bitter attitude from Old Man Kitley.
