Mystery Photo 10-26

A little late today but we still got a new photo for you to puzzle over. But before we get to it, let’s recap last week’s photo. I thought for sure I was going to stump everyone but we ended up with 4 people that guessed the correct movie. The movie is Castle of Evil (1966), and the ones that knew that were Hoby Abernathy, Bob Hartman, Michael Shields, and Mark Turner. Well done, gentlemen!

Okay so let’s see if we stump anybody with this photo, since I’ve been digging deep in the obscure vault lately. Just remember to send your guess to us in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good luck!

Mystery Photo 10-19

Yes, we’re back with a new photo. We missed last week with too much going on in the real world, not to mention a few updates last week! But we’re hoping to be back on track for the rest of the month. Our last photo was taken in my basement… oh wait… that’s what I’m hoping to have my basement look like at some point. It was actually from The Virgin of Nuremberg (1963), or better known here in the states as Horror Castle. Congrats to the following who sent in the correct answrer: Hoby Abernathy, Vincent Simonelli, and Todd Warren. Well done, indeed.

So without any further delays (or I forget to get it posted), let’s get to this week’s photo. I know this is looks the way I feel going to work each Monday morning! Remember to send your answers through email (better chance of me not forgetting you) to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 10-5

Welcome to our first official Mystery Photo of October! But before we get to this one, let’s go over last week’s photo. It was from Jorge Grau’s Blood Ceremony (1973), also known as The Legend of Blood Castle. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Brian Doering, Troy Howarth, & Todd Warren. Well done. Even better, is that this title will soon get a Blu-ray release from the fine folks at Mondo Macabro, which you’ll be able to pre-order at the end of the month. Can’t wait to see this one in a nice beautiful print!

So while sticking with a similar theme, take a peek at this week’s photo and see if you can recognize it. As always, just send us your answer in an email to me (jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 9-28

One more Monday closer to October. In fact, this will be our last photo for this month, so we are almost there! No excuses to be busting out even more horror titles to watch over the next 31 days then we already normally do. To try and spark that urge, here’s a photo to get you started. But first, let’s go over last week’s photo. It was from Luigi Cozzi’s 1989 film The Black Cat. Also known as Edgar Allan Poe’s The Black Cat and even Demons 6, this was actually supposed to be an unofficial sequel to Dario Argento’s Three Mothers Trilogy (Suspiria and Inferno). To say this didn’t hit upon the same level of genius as the previous Argento titles is bit of an understatement. This was a title that was very hard to find a copy decent enough to watch for many years. But now thanks to Severin Films, it will soon to be out on Blu-ray! Congrats to Tim Palace and William Wilson for sending in (and actually knowing the film) the correct answer. There might have been one more of you but I think I lost that message. If so, I apologize!

So let’s get to this week’s photo and see if we get any more takers. Remember, just send us an email (to jon@kitleyskrypt.com) with your answer. Good Luck.

Mystery Photo 9-21

Looks like even though our last movie is currently streaming on Amazon, not too many of you have seen it or recognized our last photo. It was from Mark of the Witch (1970), directed by Tom Moore, who also directed The Return to Boggy Creek (1977), as well as producing The Town that Dreaded Sundown (1976). Congrats to Hoby Abernathy, Todd Barwick and Bob Hartman, Michael Shields for sending in the correct answer.

For our next photo, we’re going once again with something a little obscure, but I have my reasons! Check it out and see what you can come up with. Just send your answer to us, at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. And Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 9-14

Welcome to another Monday and another day closer to Halloween! Hopefully that makes the day a little more palatable. Last week’s photo was from the 1987 film The Curse, based on the H.P. Lovecraft story, The Colour Out of Space. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Lee Nattrass, JS Scott, and William Wilson.

Now on to this week’s photo. Could be a tough one. Just send your guess in through email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 9-7

Welcome to our first Mystery Photo in September. That means Halloween is just a little bit closer. Then again, we all know that Halloween is every day, right! Okay, let’s get down to business. Last week’s photo was from the 1933 film Murders in the Zoo, starring the one and only Lionel Atwill. Such seedy and sadistic goings-on way back then. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron Christensen, Dave Fronto, Troy Howarth, Dough Lamoreux, and Michael Shields. For those of you that haven’t seen this picture, I would highly recommend it.

For this week’s photo, we’re giving a shout out to all those hardworking people in the kitchens! It’s a bloody tough job! But take a look at the photo below and see if you can recognize which film it is from. As always, please do not post your guess here so that others can have a chance. Just send us your guess in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 8-31

Welcome to our last photo of the summer. That just means we’re even closer to the Halloween season. Then again, for most of us, Halloween is all year round! Our last photo was from the Japanese film Kuroneko (1968), directed by Kaneto Shindô, who also gave us Onibaba (1964). I would highly recommend both of these films, if you haven’t seen them. There’s a reason they are considered classics. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Gregory Avery, Bob Hartman, Troy Howarth, Zeit Koloss, Lee Nattrass, Jeff Owens, Michael Shields, and Kristin Wicks. Well done!

So let’s get to another black and white one and see if we get more answers this time out. Take a peek and send us an email (jon@kitleyskrypt.com) with your guess. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 8-17

Sorry again for the late posting again, but just couldn’t manage to get it ready to go over the weekend. Seems more and more we wait for the weekend, counting down the days, only to find out at the end of it, you didn’t get squat done! And here we are, starting all over again. Ugh.

Anyway, enough whining. I was thrilled to see so many people send in the correct answers last week. It was from Tobe Hooper’s 1976 film Eaten Alive, with such an amazing cast.  I mean, how could a movie NOT be entertaining when you have these names in there: Neville Brand, Mel Ferrer, Carolyn Jones, Marilyn Burns, William Finley, Stuart Whitman, Kyle Richars, and of course, Robert Englund in one of his earlier roles! Here’s all the ones that sent it in: Hoby Abernathy, Gregory Avery, Todd Barwick, Wendy Bodine, Aaron Christensen, Chris Dyer, Kevin Hart, Christopher Highland, Troy Howarth, Martin Meeks, Lee Nattrass, Tim Palace, James Schmeichel, Bryan Senn, Michael Shields, Gert Verbeeck, Todd Warren, and William Wilson. Well done!

Okay, this week’s photo might be a little tougher. Okay, maybe a LOT tougher. But after throwing you a bone with last week’s photo, I figured I’d make you work for it. As always, just send your answer to us in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good luck!

Mystery Photo 8-10

It’s been a long and busy week. Hence the lack of updates recently. Been preoccupied with a project but hopefully the brunt of that is over and I can get back to here on a more regular basis. We’ll see. But for now, let’s get to the topic at hand. Last week’s photo was from Ghost Town (1988). I would always see that sitting on the shelve, no matter what video store I was in. A nice memory from a time long gone. Kudos to the following that did send in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Todd Barwick, Aaron Christensen, Dave Fronto, Brian Fukala, Christopher Highland, Neil Kloster, Lee Nattrass, Michael Shields, Gert Verbeeck, and William Wilson. Always nice to see that many names.

Let’s see if we get that many, or even more, from this shot. Take a peek and see if you recognize where this little tourist trap is from. Just send your answer to us in an email (jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!
