Mystery Photo 11-30

Welcome to Monday and for our last Mystery Photo for November. Before we get to it, let’s review last week’s photo. It was from the 1943 The Mad Ghoul, starring the one and only George Zucco. We got quite a few correct answers sent in on this one, which always puts a smile on my face! Here are the names: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron AuBuchon, Dave Fronto, Kevin Hart, Troy Howarth, Doug Lamoreux, Matt Masters, Gary McGuire, Lee Nattrass, Charles Miller, Bryan Senn, Vincent Simonelli, and Alan Tromp. Well done to you all!

Now today’s photo will probably be pretty easy for some, but others might have to think about it. Have a good look and see what you can come up with. Remember, just send your answer to us at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-23

As we move closer to the end of November, and hopefully the end of all the negativity around the world (one can hope, can’t they), I keep trying to remind myself that escaping the real world for a few moments to enjoy our passions is one sure way to keep oneself sane. I know it helps me, and I know that is one of the reasons I keep at the Krypt, hoping to give others a moment’s break from the insanity. So now, here is your break, our latest Mystery Photo. But first, let’s go over last week’s photo. It was the last real entry into what is known as Hammer Horror, 1976 Satanic epic To the Devil a Daughter. This was hopefully going to keep Hammer afloat, but even though it did well at the box office, very little of that money went to Hammer and pretty much put the last nail in the coffin. Damn shame. But congrats go out to the following that recognized the wonderful and amazingly talented actor Denholm Elliott from the film: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron Christensen, Troy Howarth, Bryan Martinez, Gary McGuire, Doug Lamoreux, Michael Shields, William Wilson, and Greg Wojick. Well done, folks!

Now onto this week’s photo, one for fans of the classic horror era, but also one with a very memorable and entertaining actor. Take a look and see if you can identify the correct movie this shot is from. Remember to send your answer to me in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-16

Yes, it is Monday once again. The start of another week and another week closer to 2020 being over. We all can only hope 2021 will be a damn site better. In the meantime, let me take a few minutes of your attention for today’s Mystery Photo. But first, let’s review last week’s photo. It was from Cirio H. Santiago’s film Demon of Paradise (1987), another one of these Creature from the Black Lagoon inspired tales that just don’t quite hold water. Got to give them credit for coming up with a fish man monster at least. While we had many incorrect answers (mainly because there are more than a few of these types of films), the only one that sent in the correct title was Hoby Abernathy. Well done.

Now onto this week’s photo. Hopefully you’ll be able to recognize this shot a little easier. Just remember, send your guess to us in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-9

Sorry about missing last week’s photo. Guess with Halloween and all, I just got a little too busy. I know, no excuse. But I will say I was pretty impressed that anybody sent in the correct answer for our last photo because it was pretty obscure. It was from the 1976 film Sisters of Death.  So well done to Doug Lamoreux, Michael Shields, and Nick Wilson for recognizing this little title.

So today’s photo might be a little easier… if you like underwater monster movies! Take a peek and see what you can come up with. Remember, don’t post your answers here so that others can have a guess. Just send us your answer to us via email, at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 10-26

A little late today but we still got a new photo for you to puzzle over. But before we get to it, let’s recap last week’s photo. I thought for sure I was going to stump everyone but we ended up with 4 people that guessed the correct movie. The movie is Castle of Evil (1966), and the ones that knew that were Hoby Abernathy, Bob Hartman, Michael Shields, and Mark Turner. Well done, gentlemen!

Okay so let’s see if we stump anybody with this photo, since I’ve been digging deep in the obscure vault lately. Just remember to send your guess to us in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good luck!

Mystery Photo 10-19

Yes, we’re back with a new photo. We missed last week with too much going on in the real world, not to mention a few updates last week! But we’re hoping to be back on track for the rest of the month. Our last photo was taken in my basement… oh wait… that’s what I’m hoping to have my basement look like at some point. It was actually from The Virgin of Nuremberg (1963), or better known here in the states as Horror Castle. Congrats to the following who sent in the correct answrer: Hoby Abernathy, Vincent Simonelli, and Todd Warren. Well done, indeed.

So without any further delays (or I forget to get it posted), let’s get to this week’s photo. I know this is looks the way I feel going to work each Monday morning! Remember to send your answers through email (better chance of me not forgetting you) to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 10-5

Welcome to our first official Mystery Photo of October! But before we get to this one, let’s go over last week’s photo. It was from Jorge Grau’s Blood Ceremony (1973), also known as The Legend of Blood Castle. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Brian Doering, Troy Howarth, & Todd Warren. Well done. Even better, is that this title will soon get a Blu-ray release from the fine folks at Mondo Macabro, which you’ll be able to pre-order at the end of the month. Can’t wait to see this one in a nice beautiful print!

So while sticking with a similar theme, take a peek at this week’s photo and see if you can recognize it. As always, just send us your answer in an email to me (jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 9-28

One more Monday closer to October. In fact, this will be our last photo for this month, so we are almost there! No excuses to be busting out even more horror titles to watch over the next 31 days then we already normally do. To try and spark that urge, here’s a photo to get you started. But first, let’s go over last week’s photo. It was from Luigi Cozzi’s 1989 film The Black Cat. Also known as Edgar Allan Poe’s The Black Cat and even Demons 6, this was actually supposed to be an unofficial sequel to Dario Argento’s Three Mothers Trilogy (Suspiria and Inferno). To say this didn’t hit upon the same level of genius as the previous Argento titles is bit of an understatement. This was a title that was very hard to find a copy decent enough to watch for many years. But now thanks to Severin Films, it will soon to be out on Blu-ray! Congrats to Tim Palace and William Wilson for sending in (and actually knowing the film) the correct answer. There might have been one more of you but I think I lost that message. If so, I apologize!

So let’s get to this week’s photo and see if we get any more takers. Remember, just send us an email (to jon@kitleyskrypt.com) with your answer. Good Luck.

Mystery Photo 9-21

Looks like even though our last movie is currently streaming on Amazon, not too many of you have seen it or recognized our last photo. It was from Mark of the Witch (1970), directed by Tom Moore, who also directed The Return to Boggy Creek (1977), as well as producing The Town that Dreaded Sundown (1976). Congrats to Hoby Abernathy, Todd Barwick and Bob Hartman, Michael Shields for sending in the correct answer.

For our next photo, we’re going once again with something a little obscure, but I have my reasons! Check it out and see what you can come up with. Just send your answer to us, at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. And Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 9-14

Welcome to another Monday and another day closer to Halloween! Hopefully that makes the day a little more palatable. Last week’s photo was from the 1987 film The Curse, based on the H.P. Lovecraft story, The Colour Out of Space. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Lee Nattrass, JS Scott, and William Wilson.

Now on to this week’s photo. Could be a tough one. Just send your guess in through email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!
