I’m a sucker for a good old fashion ghost story, one that has a puzzle that needs to be solved before the end of movie. They can be creepy, eerie, and downright scary. The Changeling (1980) is all that and more, and is one of my favorites. George C. Scott stars as a composer who is struggling with the recent lost of his wife and daughter after a tragic accident. After moving into an old mansion that he’s rented, he starts to hear strange noises, voices, and music, making him dig deeper into this mystery that is slowly starting to unravel before him.
Now thanks to the wonderful folks at Severin, you’ll not only be able to see this movie fully restored in HD, learn more about it with all the commentaries and interviews in the extras, as well as picking up some great little promotional items as well!

Available on Aug. 7th, this new edition will feature audio commentary with Director Peter Medak and producer Joel B. Michaels, moderated by Severin’s David Gregory. There will also be interviews with Art Director Reuben Freed, Music Arranger Kenneth Wannberg, plus featurettes like The Psychotronic Tourist, The House on Cheesman Park: The Haunting True Story of The Changeling, along with trailers, poster and still gallery, and Mick Garris discussing the film.

There are several different packages of this release as well. You can get the regular Blu-Ray edition ($24.99), or the limited edition ($28.99) which comes with the CD soundtrack and slipcover. Or there is the Bundle package ($54) which comes with the limited Blu-Ray (and CD soundtrack), an 18×24 limited edition screen printed poster, and enamel pin, as well as (and this is the coolest park) a replica of the red and white ball from the movie. If you’ve seen the movie, then you know exactly what I’m talking about! This bundle package expires when all of the 300 posters are sold. The pin and the ball can be ordered separately as well, all through the Severin website. I am ecstatic that Severin is taking the time to create memorable promo items like this red ball. Well done, guys!
For all the details and how to order your copy today, head over to their website HERE. The bundle package is limited to 300 so if you’re even remotely interested, you’d better order sooner than later! If you’re not completely convinced you need this, here’s the trailer.
Seems like an odd title for Severin, but they really did it right. I would gladly double dip for this release.

Same here. But I got to say, I’m excited about getting one of those red balls! That part scared the crap out of me when I first seen it.
