Mystery Photo 3-16

Welcome to a whole new world. Because of the uncertain of what is going on, we’re going to do our best here at the Krypt to give everyone out there a little distraction. Don’t know if this is the smartest thing to do, but it is all we can think of to try and hold on some sort of normality. I know one positive thing is that I’m getting to watch a LOT of movies recently, so I’m definitely taking advantage of it.

Okay, our photo from last week was from the Japanese film The Haunted Castle (1969). I caught this for the first time a few weeks ago and was amazed at the cinematography and all around style the film had. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, the only one to send in the correct answer was Hoby Abernathy. But hopefully this will cause a few others out there to seek out this great film.

This week’s photo is a little more current, so hopefully it will be a little easier. We’ll see! So take a look and then send your guess to us in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 3-9

Welcome to another Monday! Our photo from last week was kind of a trick one. That definitely is a young Jack Taylor and it is from the Nostradamus series that was later cut up into 4 separate features. That shot particular was from Nostradamus y el destructor de monstruos aka The Monster Demolisher (1962). If you’re a fan of early Mexican horror films, that series is a lot of fun. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Bob Hartman, and Troy Howarth.

Now on to this week’s photo. Might be pretty obvious what country this is from… or is it? There… that was to throw your game off a bit! Either way, take a look and see what you can come up with. Just send your answer to us in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Welcome to March! This means that convention season is even closer! Okay… back to the subject at hand! Our last photo was from Dan Curtis’ film Burnt Offerings (1976), in an obvious tribute to composer Bob Cobert who had recently passed away. Burnt Offerings isn’t one of my favorites of Curtis, but is always entertaining, mainly from the wonderful cast in it. I mean, how can you go wrong with Bette Davis, Oliver Reed, Karen Black, and Burgess Meredith??? We had quite a few send in the correct answers this time, which always makes me happy! Glad to know people know these classic Curtis movies! So congrats to the following: Hoby Abernathy, Todd Barwick, Cate Cameron, Richard Garcia, Christopher Highland, Doug Lamoreux, Martin Meeks, William Wilson, and Greg Wojick. Well done, indeed!

On to this week’s photo. This one might be a little tougher, so take a good look and see what you can come up with. Maybe you’ll recognize the actor which might help you. Maybe. I don’t need to remind everyone not to post your answer in the comments because after only five years, I’ve realized I can make it so nobody can leave a comment on certain posts. I’m slow, but steady. Anyway… here’s this week’s photo.

Mystery Photo 2-24

A little late today, but still here. Rough Monday, but always could be worse, right? But let’s get to business and not waste any more time! Last week’s photo was that of Joe Spinell from 1980’s Maniac. For a movie filled with so much graphic and grisly violence, it still is an incredible film with a lot of deeper meaning in there. So far ahead of it’s time. Still a classic. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron AuBuchon, Aaron Christensen, Richard Diaz, Kristin Wicks, William Wilson, and Greg Wojick. Well done.

So onto today’s photo. For some, it will be obvious and maybe even obvious to some as to why I picked this one. But give it a look and see what you think. As always, please remember not to post your answers here in the comments so that others can have a chance at guessing. Good Luck!

Hopefully everyone survived their Bloody Valentine’s Day! I know the wife and I spent it watching the wonderful new Blu-ray of it, which happens to be one of my favorites of the ’80s slashers. But I’m rambling. Let’s get to the important stuff, shall we? Our photo from last week was from a little obscure film called Face of Terror (1962) that came from Spain. Sort of a takeoff of Eyes Without a Face theme, but with a little twist. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Bob Hartman, Michael Shields & Alan Tromp. I don’t think this has gotten an official release over here in the states, which is a shame because it is a fun little flick.

Okay, lets get on with this week’s photo. This one might be a little easy, but we’ll see how much you’re paying attention. As always, please remember not to post your answers here so that others can have a chance at guessing. Instead, send your answer to me in an email (this is the best way for me NOT to forget you sent it in!) to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

A little late today with the new photo, but here we are. But before we get to this week’s, let us review last week! It was from Paul Naschy’s Human Beasts (1980). Kudos to the following to sent in the correct answer. They are: Hoby Abernathy, Troy Howarth, Todd Warren, and William Wilson. Well done!

Okay, here’s today’s photo. Pretty much how I felt leaving work today. Hmmm… coincidences? As always, please remember not to post your answers here so that others can have a chance at guessing. Just send them to me in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 2-3

Welcome to February and to our first photo of the new month. This one might be a little easier than our last one, since admittedly it was a pretty obscure film. Only one person sent in the correct answer and that was Hoby Abernathy. The film’s title is La vendetta di Lady Morgan, or The Vengeance of Lady Morgan (1965). Directed by Massimo Pupillo, who that very same year, also directed Bloody Pit of Horror and Terror-Creatures from the Grave! That’s one hell of a month! Lady Morgan stars Paul Muller, Erika Blanc, Gordon Mitchell, and Barbara Nelli, which is about a woman coming back as a ghost to get revenge on her evil husband. Great little flick and highly recommended.

Okay, so this week’s photo might be a little easier but let’s see if you’re paying attention. Take a look and see if you can name the film here. As always, please remember not to post your answers here in the comments section, so that others can have a chance. Just send them to us in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

It is always nice to see a lot of correct answers come over when a classic ’50s photo is posted, especially when the creatures were created by Paul Blaisdell. The film is Invasion of the Saucer Men (1957), directed by Edward L. Cahn. Blaisdell went through hell to come up with a designed that appeased both AIP heads Sam Arkoff and James Nicholson, but what he finally did come up with definitely hit the mark because they are still being remembered today. Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Gregory Avery, Todd Barwick, Christopher Dyer, Dave Fronto, Bob Hartman, Bryan Senn, and Michael Shields. Well done!

Now we’re going to go back with something a little more obscure. Trust me, I’m not making these hard to stump everyone as much as trying to bring attention to these rare and near lost films. So yes, there is method for my madness! Take a look and see if you recognize where this shot is from. As always, please do not post your answers here so that others can have a chance at guessing. Just send us your guess in an email (jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 1-20

It looks like I went a little too obscure with our last Mystery Photo since nobody sent in any guesses for this one. It was from the 1973 Australian film Night of Fear, from director Terry Bourke, who brought us other down under favorites like Inn of the Damned (1975) and Lady Stay Dead (1981). If you didn’t know this one, don’t feel bad because up until a few weeks ago, I didn’t know of it either! But now we all know! There is something charming about those Ozploitation flicks!

This week’s photo is a not from Australia and isn’t that obscure, especially for classic film fans. So let’s see what you got. As always, please do not post your answers here so that others can have a chance at guessing. Just send them to me in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

It seems going with a newer title might have thrown a few of you. Especially when it comes from outside the US. But at least now you have a movie to seek out now, right? The title is The Influence (2019) and comes from Spain from director Denis Rovira van Boekholt. Always trying to throw new things out there to get a little attention. Only had one correct answer sent in and that was from William Wilson. Well done, sir!

Okay this week’s photo isn’t knew but might be a tad obscure… or is it? Take a look and see if you recognize it. As always, please do not post your answers here so that others can have a chance at guessing. To make sure I don’t miss a correct answer, you’re best bet is to send me an email (to jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!
