Mystery Photo 5-17

I can still remember opening up the pages of Fangoria and seeing photos from this new gore-filled horror/comedy from some wacko from New Zealand. Who would have known then he would go on to win an Oscar and create some of the finest moments in cinematic history, such as with Meet the Feebles (1989) and some series about a ring or something. Of course, I’m talking about Peter Jackson, and our photo is from his directorial feature debut, Bad Taste (1987), that took over 5 years of weekend shootings to finally get it finished. But even bad then, you could see the talent within that mad genius. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Todd Barwick, Aaron Christensen, Craig Clark, and Dustin Moravick. Well done!

This week’s photo is another classic from a director that, while never won any Oscars, definitely made some big features. Take a look below and see what you can come up with. Just send us an email (to jon@kitleyskrypt.com) with your guess. Good Luck!

A little late today, but here it is none the less. Our last Mystery Photo for April. That means the year is close to be a quarter way through. Hopefully this is putting us a little closer to getting back to a least some what of a resemblance of normality. One can only hope. But let us get to the business at hand. I was pleasantly surprised to see the number of correct answers for last week’s photo. I think we’re on a roll. I’ll have to do something about that! The film, of course, was from Amicus’ From Beyond the Grave (1974). But kudos to the following for sending the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Cate Cameron, Chris Dyer, Dave Fronto, Kevin Hart, Troy Howarth, Doug Lamoreux, Gary McGuire, Charles Miller, Lee Nattrass, Bryan Senn, Michael Shields, Mark Turner, and Todd Warren. Well done to the lot of you!

This week’s photo might not be as easy. Don’t want to get you people think I’m going too soft on the trivia! So take a look below and see if you can spot where this little pic is from. Just remember to email your guess to us (jon@kitleyskrypt.com). Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 4-12

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope everyone had a stellar weekend. I know I did, mainly because I feel like I’ve done three Iron Man marathons back to back. Okay, I just moved my office from downstairs to upstairs, but carrying about 1300 books, 6 bookcases (most of them by myself) and countless trips up and down the stairs, I am feeling every bit of my age! But I’m finally moved in for the most part and am very happy with the new (and slightly bigger) Kryptic office! But you didn’t come here to hear me whine, did you? Let’s get to the official business at hand. Our photo from last week was from the early horror film The Vampire Bat (1933), another fun little picture with Lionel Atwill and Fay Wray. Sure, a little melodramatic, but still a lot of fun. Kudos out to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Kevin Hart, Bob Hartman, Gary McGuire, and Bryan Senn.

So this week’s photo is more of a tribute than anything, which some will understand right away, while others will understand at some point. So give it a look and see what you can come up with. Just send us an email with your guess, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck.

Mystery Photo 4-5

Welcome to April! I would say now that we’re a quarter way into 2021, I do feel things are looking up a little better. It honestly looks like we may actually have some conventions this year. At least, fingers are crossed. But let’s get to the real reason you’re looking at this post. The Mystery Photo! Last week’s photo was from the 1962 film Burn Witch Burn, or the original UK title, Night of the Eagle. While the original title does make sense in the film, I have to say I prefer the American one. We had quite a few correct guesses this time out, which makes me very happy that a lot have seen this one, since it really is a stellar film. Kudos to the following: Hoby Abernathy, Cate Cameron, Aaron Christensen, Craig Clark, Chris Dyer, Dave Fronto, Kevin Hart, Bob Hartman, Troy Howarth, Gary McGuire, Charles Miller, Lee Nattrass,Jeff Owens, Tim Palace, and Todd Warren.

But let’s get on to this week’s photo. Going back in a time a bit for this early classic. Take a look and see if you recognize it. All you need to do is send us your guess at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 3-22

Another Monday of 2021 that we’ve survived to. I’d say that is something worth celebrating. But for some folks out there, they are struggling with losing someone. Or are struggling to get through the day. I know it’s not easy, but remember that before going on on someone for something that really is pretty petty. Didn’t think you’d be getting some life advice coming to the Krypt, huh? Well, I’ll try not to make it a regular thing, but I just know that we can do better than what we’ve been doing, myself included.

But let’s get to why you’re here … our Mystery Photo. Unfortunately, nobody sent in the correct answer for last week’s photo. It was from Midnight Movie (2008), a fun little movie killer comes out from the screen. As far as this week’s, I think it might be a little easier, and definitely not as obscure. Or is it? Take a peek and send your answers to us at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Remember not to post your answers here in the comments so that others can have a chance at guessing. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 3-8

Welcome to another Monday. Right. Okay, now that is over, let’s get to the business at hand! Last week’s photo was a tough one, I’ll give you that. Which amazed even more that we got more than a couple of correct answers. You guys keep making me proud! The shot was from a French TV movie called The Golem (1967). Whether or not it is a horror film could be debated, as well as just what the hell the movie is about! But we’ll leave that for another time. Right now, let’s give praise to those that did recognize it: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron Christensen, Kevin Hart, Alan Tromp, and Nick Wilson. Well done!

Now this week’s photo might seen pretty easy, or maybe it is one that is going to make you think a bit. Either way, it definitely isn’t that obscure, so let’s see what you think. Remember, please do not post your answers here so that others can have a chance. Just send your guess to us in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 2-15

Sorry for the lack of updates as of late. Things in the real world have been keeping from getting done what I’d like to. As well as battling some severe bouts of simple lack of motivation. I know the stress of my real job is what I think is the major cause, but hopefully that will start to get back to normal. Fingers crossed. But for now, let’s get to our task at hand.

We didn’t have anybody send in a correct answer for last week’s Mystery Photo. It was from the 2007 chilling ghost story (in more ways than one) called Wind Chill. I’m always a sucker for a good ghost story and I think this one works well.

We’ll see how everyone does on this week’s photo. Hopefully we don’t have another week with no correct answers. Time will tell. In the mean time, take a look below and see what you can come up with. Remember not to post your answers here so that others can have a guess. Just send your guess to us at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 2-8

Where did the weekend go? Not sure, since I’ve worked both days this weekend. Yeah…. fun, fun, fun! But that’s the fun part of this roller coaster we’re on, that the ride keeps moving no matter what. So you just need to hold on tight and enjoy it, right? That’s what I keep telling myself.

Anyway, our photo from last week was a bit of a toughie, and we only got one correct answer sent in, and that was from Greg Wojick, who correctly identified the photo from Satan’s Slave, an Indonesian horror film from 1982. Well done, Greg!

But let’s get to today’s photo. Might be a little easier, but we’ll see. Take a look and see if you can identify what film this shot is from. Please remember not to post your answers here so that everyone has a chance to make a guess. Just sent your guess to use in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 2-1

Welcome to February! One more day, one more month, to hoping things start get back to normal. I know we have a ways to go, but let’s hope we’re moving in the right direction! But that’s now why you’re hear, so let’s get to the business at hand. We would have had this posted this morning, but we needed to make sure our new monthly mission for the Army was sent out. Not sure what that is, click on the Kryptic Army link on the menus to the right for more info.

Our last photo was from the British film Haunted House of Horror, also known as Horror House, from 1969, starring Dennis Price, Frankie Avalon and Jill Haworth. Kudos out to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Troy Howarth, Gary McGuire, Bryan Senn, Nick Wilson.

Now to this week’s photo. Give it a peak and see what you think! Remember, don’t post your answers in the comment section so that others can have a guess. Just send your guess to us in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 1-25

Welcome to our Mystery Photo for the month. See that? We’ve almost made it a whole month in the new year without any huge disaster. Upward and onward! Our photo from last week was from the Tyburn film Legend of the Werewolf (1975), starring Peter Cushing. Kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Troy Howarth, and Gary McGuire. Well done!

For this week’s photo, I picked a real nice classy shot. See if you can recognize which film it is from. As always, please don’t post your answers here so everyone can have a chance at guessing. Just send your guess to us in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!
