Coming from Headpress is a book in tribute of the great Richard Matheson. If you by chance don’t know his name, you definitely know his work, because it is simply massive, both in short fiction and novels, to screenplays and adaptations from his writings. Pre-orders are now up for Mathesontennial: 100 Years of Richard Matheson, edited by Anthony Taylor. I was more than honored to have an essay I wrote to be included in this tome along with such lustrous names as David Morell, C. Courtney Joyner, Mick Garris, Tim Lucas, llleana Douglas, Troy Howarth, Robert McCammon, and many more. From his work that appeared in The Twilight Zone, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, to movies adapted from his stories such as The Incredible Shrinking Man, to Duel, to Stir of Echoes, to the Edgar Allan Poe adaptations with Roger Corman, to so many others, he would entertain and inspire so many of us.
In the introduction, editor Anthony Taylor writes, “Richard Matheson spent his life creating worlds of imagination, and in doing so he became the architect of dreams for many of us. His works show us ways to be frightened, ways to be amused, ways to be wondrous, ways to be better and kinder to each other, and, most of all, ways to be human, his storytelling imparts not only entertainment but lessions in humanity, as the greatest stories do.”
