Mystery Photo 1-11

Monday once again. No matter what happens in the world, there will always be that Monday. So let’s make the best of it, shall we? Our photo from last week was from 1958 film The Thing That Couldn’t Die and was thrilled to see not only quite a few people sending in the correct answer, but also hearing the love for this movie. With a rating of 3.8 on IMDB, you’d think that it was a low budget piece of trash, but I, like a lot of you out there, find it has a lot of charm to it and is still entertaining. So kudos to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Craig Clark, Christopher Dyer, Dave Fronto, Kevin Hart, Bob Hartman, Troy Howarth, Doug Lamoreux, Bryan Martinez, Gary McGuire, Bryan Senn, and Michael Shields. Well done!

So for our next one, we’re going to get a little more obscure just to get those brains working a little overtime. It is a great moment in the film so we’ll see if anybody can recognize it. Just remember not to post your answers here so others can have a guess. Just send your answers to us in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com.

Mystery Photo 1-4

Welcome to the New Year and our first Mystery Photo of 2021. Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. But let’s get on with business, shall we? Our photo from last week was from Master of Horror (1965), a film with two tales of terror from Edgar Allan Poe. The shot I used was from “The Cask of Amontillado”, which is one of my favorites from Poe. Congrats to Michael Shield and Alan Tromp for sending in the correct answer. Well done and way to start off the new year!

Now today’s photo is another film that might not be too well known, but I think represents our love of horror. So give it a look and see what you think. Remember, do not post your answers here so others can have a guess. Just send your guess to us at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 12-28

Welcome to our very last Mystery Photo for 2020. Been a long year, that is for sure. I know I’m not alone is saying that I sure hope 2021 is a far better one then this year. I still feel its going to be a bit rough for the first half, but hopefully we start to see that change, at least once mid January hits. I know we haven’t had a lot of updates these last couple of weeks but the holidays have been taking their toll, so we’re hoping things will get back on track shortly.

Our photo from last week was from a made-for-TV movie from 1977, called The Possessed, that had an all-star cast including James Farentino, Diana Scarwid, Joan Hackett, Dinah Manoff, P.J. Soles, and some guy named Harrison Ford.

So to end the year, we’re going to go out with another obscure one, but not too rare. Especially since thanks to a recent Blu-ray label, this has now become readily available.  So give it a peak and see if you can’t end the year on a good note by sending in the correct answer! As always, please don’t post your answers here so that others can have a guess. Just send us an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com with your guess. Good Luck and see you on the other side.

Mystery Photo 12-21

As I expected, our last photo was indeed a tough one. Honestly, I didn’t expect anybody to get it, although we had quite a few really good tries. But in the end, we did get one with the correct answer, and that was from Gary McGuire, who correctly guessed the Yugoslavian film, Leptirica, aka The She-Butterfly, from 1973. Well done, Gary!

Our photo for today is a little more closer to home. In fact, right from your living room. Hint, hint. But give a look and see if you can come up with the correct answer. PLEASE remember not to post your answers in the comment sections so everyone can have a chance at guessing. Just send your guess to me at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 12-14

For our photo from last week, I decided to go with something a little more mainstream, but tried to pick a shot that maybe wasn’t as well known. Apparently I was wrong. It was from Tobe Hooper’s Poltergeist (1982) and the man leaning into the window is none other than Lou Perryman, better known to most horror fans as the lovable L.G. from Texas Chains Massacre 2. I had the opportunity to meet him at a Cinema Wasteland show in April 2004, and he was such a great and friendly guy. When he was invited back to Wasteland five years later, we arrived Friday afternoon to hear the news that he had been murdered in his own home the night before. Such sad news to start the weekend off. So I chose that photo because most people didn’t know that was him, and to pay a little tribute to this great human being.

We did get a lot of correct answers, even some trying to post their answers on the site and Facebook. For shame, people, for shame. But kudos to the lot of you: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron AuBuchon, Cary Conley, Dahlia Daniels, Chris Dyer, Rick Hayden, Bryan Martinez, Martin Meeks, Gary McGuire, Erich Polnow, and Karen Shaub, William Wilson.

Since that one was so easy, I guess I’ll have to throw a curve ball and go with one that might be a little more challenging. If you feel up to it, take a look at the photo below and see what you can come up with. Once again, PLEASE do not post your answer here so that others can have a guess. It just makes it more fun for everyone. Just send your answer instead to me in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck.

Mystery Photo 12-7

Welcome to the first Monday of December. Only one more month folks before this year will be officially done. Let’s just hope it wasn’t a warmup for 2021!

Our photo from last week was from Dario Argento’s Cat O’Nine Tails (1971), of the poor soul pushed in front of the train. Not the best way to start your morning, huh? Congrats to the following for sending in the correct answer: Hoby Abernathy, Troy Howarth, Bryan Martinez, Vincent Simonelli, and William Wilson.

Now we’ll just have to see how easy our photo below will be for you. Is it an easy one? Obscure? Only you will know! Just remember not to post your answers here so others can have a guess. Just send your guess to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-30

Welcome to Monday and for our last Mystery Photo for November. Before we get to it, let’s review last week’s photo. It was from the 1943 The Mad Ghoul, starring the one and only George Zucco. We got quite a few correct answers sent in on this one, which always puts a smile on my face! Here are the names: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron AuBuchon, Dave Fronto, Kevin Hart, Troy Howarth, Doug Lamoreux, Matt Masters, Gary McGuire, Lee Nattrass, Charles Miller, Bryan Senn, Vincent Simonelli, and Alan Tromp. Well done to you all!

Now today’s photo will probably be pretty easy for some, but others might have to think about it. Have a good look and see what you can come up with. Remember, just send your answer to us at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-23

As we move closer to the end of November, and hopefully the end of all the negativity around the world (one can hope, can’t they), I keep trying to remind myself that escaping the real world for a few moments to enjoy our passions is one sure way to keep oneself sane. I know it helps me, and I know that is one of the reasons I keep at the Krypt, hoping to give others a moment’s break from the insanity. So now, here is your break, our latest Mystery Photo. But first, let’s go over last week’s photo. It was the last real entry into what is known as Hammer Horror, 1976 Satanic epic To the Devil a Daughter. This was hopefully going to keep Hammer afloat, but even though it did well at the box office, very little of that money went to Hammer and pretty much put the last nail in the coffin. Damn shame. But congrats go out to the following that recognized the wonderful and amazingly talented actor Denholm Elliott from the film: Hoby Abernathy, Aaron Christensen, Troy Howarth, Bryan Martinez, Gary McGuire, Doug Lamoreux, Michael Shields, William Wilson, and Greg Wojick. Well done, folks!

Now onto this week’s photo, one for fans of the classic horror era, but also one with a very memorable and entertaining actor. Take a look and see if you can identify the correct movie this shot is from. Remember to send your answer to me in an email, to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-16

Yes, it is Monday once again. The start of another week and another week closer to 2020 being over. We all can only hope 2021 will be a damn site better. In the meantime, let me take a few minutes of your attention for today’s Mystery Photo. But first, let’s review last week’s photo. It was from Cirio H. Santiago’s film Demon of Paradise (1987), another one of these Creature from the Black Lagoon inspired tales that just don’t quite hold water. Got to give them credit for coming up with a fish man monster at least. While we had many incorrect answers (mainly because there are more than a few of these types of films), the only one that sent in the correct title was Hoby Abernathy. Well done.

Now onto this week’s photo. Hopefully you’ll be able to recognize this shot a little easier. Just remember, send your guess to us in an email to jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!

Mystery Photo 11-9

Sorry about missing last week’s photo. Guess with Halloween and all, I just got a little too busy. I know, no excuse. But I will say I was pretty impressed that anybody sent in the correct answer for our last photo because it was pretty obscure. It was from the 1976 film Sisters of Death.  So well done to Doug Lamoreux, Michael Shields, and Nick Wilson for recognizing this little title.

So today’s photo might be a little easier… if you like underwater monster movies! Take a peek and see what you can come up with. Remember, don’t post your answers here so that others can have a guess. Just send us your answer to us via email, at jon@kitleyskrypt.com. Good Luck!
