Wow. It just hit me the other day that it’s been a little over 10 whole years since I moved the Krypt from the old website to this new blog format on WordPress. I remember being very concerned and even nervous about making the move, thinking I was losing something in the change. Looking back on it now, I think it was a pretty good decision, especially when you look at websites now compared to 20 years ago.
In those 10 years here, I’ve had over 2500 posts, which I guess shows that I’m still dedicated to helping to spread my love and passion for the horror genre. Granted, in just another 3 years, the Krypt will hit its big 30-year mark, which alone seems hard to believe. But again, it goes to show how much I believe in spreading this “gospel”. When I realize that no matter how long I’ve been a fan myself, that I am still learning so much about the horror genre, and cinema itself, it shows me that there is no endgame here. There is always so much to see and learn. And with every new thing you learn can affect how you see and feel about something you’ve already experienced. With more of an understanding on a particular sub-genre, or a specific film, such as the struggles getting it made, when you view that film again, it will change your viewing, even if its minor.
There are still plenty of films out there to discover, both old and new ones being released that keep fanning the fire, keeping it going. Might get down to a few embers glowing, but it always comes back raging at some point. And having this outlet to spout my beliefs, theories, and other ramblings, has really helped keep my sanity, especially as the world gets crazier than any film I’ve seen.
But no matter how strong my passion for the genre is, it is always being able to spread it to others that makes it makes so rewarding for me. So, to those out there that have consistently followed me at the Krypt, whether it’s been days, months, or years, I thank you. With each email I receive, whether it’s a Mystery Photo guess, or just a comment, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it and what it means. I’ve made a lot of friends through the Krypt over the years and honestly, it makes my heart swell knowing that I have created a place that others can come to, to not only possibly learn something, but also to be reminded that they are not alone in their crazy obsession with horror movies!
The horror community consistently shows me that we are not only some of the nicest people out there but intelligent and compassionate enough to have serious discussions about film and the creation of them, showing that we are so much more than the deviants that society used to think of us.
So once again, as your humble host of the Krypt, I do thank you for your support over the years. And I will continue to keep the gate open, so we can all continue our journey down the path to discover even more horror!

Here’s to 30 more years!
