That’s right, folks, it’s that time of year again. The official ballot has been cast for the annual Rondo Awards celebrating 2023. I have been fortunate enough to have been nominated in 3 different categories this year, a personal best, I believe!
But before I get to all that gloating, I wish to congratulate everyone who has been nominated, and a special shoutout to my personal friends that were as well. They are Rod Barnett, Eric McNaughton, Darrell Buxton & the We Below Dead family, Christopher Wayne Curry, Anthony Taylor, John Bowen, Ron Adams, Richard J. Schellbach, Derek Koch, and my HorrorHound family: Aaron Crowell, Nathan Hanneman, Ernie Rockelman, Jessica Dwyer, and Jason Edmiston.
Why should you vote for the Rondo Awards? That’s easy. A lot of the people in these categories are not professionals. Sure, there are quite a few that are, but many of them are not. Which means the work they are doing that merited a nomination was done mainly through the passion we all share. I can’t think of a better way to show the appreciation of one’s work of passion than to present them an award for it. It shows that what they are doing is worth their time and effort. So please, head over to the link posted below, read the directions on what to do, and take a few minutes to vote with your heart for the work in 2023 that impressed you the most. I’m not asking you to vote for me, but just to vote. But if you are so inclined, below is what I was nominated for.
My retrospective, Nosferatu: 100 Years of the Immortal Classic, on F.W. Murnau’s classic silent film, in HorrorHound # 96 was nominated for Best Article, category #14. I have to admit, I learned so much about this film myself in doing the research for it, so I am extra thrilled to see it get a little attention. The cover art for this issue also nabbed a nomination for artist Jason Edmiston for Best Cover, category # 17.
I was once again nominated for my regular column in HorrorHound, They Came from the Krypt, category # 16. Honestly, I’m just thrilled to be able to (hopefully) introduce audiences to a couple of films each column that maybe they didn’t know about.
And lastly, the podcast Discover the Horror, that I share with Aaron AuBuchon and Damien Glonek, now going on its 3rd year, and with over 60 episodes published, and our support and followers growing every day, was nominated again for Best Podcast. With the goal to “give you reasons to explore horror you’ve never seen and give you new ways to see horror you’ve loved for years.”
To see the entire list of nominations, head over to the official site by clicking HERE. You don’t have to vote for all the categories, but just the ones that speak to you and for those you wish to support. Again, I’d love to have your vote, but I mostly would love just to have you cast your votes, period.
But thank you to those that do support my work, here on the site, the podcast, and my ramblings in HorrorHound. I do appreciate it all.
