Our good friend Ian Simmons, who runs the Kicking the Seat podcast, as well as hosts the Academia Giallo show that I am a frequent guest on, along with Aaron Christensen from Horror 101 with Dr. AC, and Bryan Martinez from The Giallo Room, has recently posted the interview that he and Mr. Martinez were able to do with the Giallo Maestro himself, Sergio Martino. I’ve been meaning to post this, but time has not been so nice to me as of late. But, better late than never, right?
At the end of January, to finish off the Music Box’s annual January Giallo fest, they had a 2-night screening of two Martino classics. On Monday the 22nd, it was Torso (1973) and on Tuesday the 23rd, it was The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh (1971), and Martino was there both nights. During that craziness, Ian and Bryan got to sit down and chat with Martino, recording the conversation. He does answer in Italian, but his translator is there to make sure everyone understands. This is your chance to hear directly from the man who made more than a few giallos that are now all considered classics. And while you’re there, go ahead and not only check out the other episodes of Academia Giallo, but for non-horror films, Ian covers a WIDE variety of titles on his regular Kicking the Seat show. Check them out!
