Okay, this one is going to be a fun one, and one that I think is going to have a lot of you thinking. Obviously from the photo above, this might give you a little hint in just what I’m thinking of when I say a “W-T-F Creature” category. We all know our traditional monsters: vampires, werewolves, Frankenstein’s Creature, zombies, etc. What I’m looking for here is something original and completely off the grid when it comes to the Monster Family Tree. But it has to be a Monster! Something that is killing off people and needs to be destroyed by the end of the film. I’m looking for something creative and making you bust our the “Never Seen THAT Before” checklist. Make sense?
Now, because we know Carpenter’s The Thing is probably going to be on a lot of people’s list, let’s take that one off the board and see what else you can come up with that is a favorite of yours.
Let’s here those thoughts?
Hard to decide what counts and what doesn’t. If the Creature from the Black Lagoon counts, I would say him (he was original at the time). If not, I have to go with the genetic creation in SPLICE. Creepy at times, sympathetic at others and constantly changing…and the final changes were unexpected.

Splice fits perfectly! Twisted movie too.

Great titles for both! I really enjoyed The Void. A lot of WTF moments in there.

For me it’s the Alien/Xenomorph. Blew me away the first time that I saw it and has remained my favorite monster of all time ever since.

At first, I thought about saying we can’t include the Alien creature because it has become a familiar monster. But yeah….when that first came out… definitely WTF.

Howzabout the leaping brain-monsters who use their attached spinal cords to propel themselves along inch-worm style, lol? Yep, we’re talking that ’50s classic FIEND WITHOUT A FACE! -Bryan

Love this! Although the first time I saw the whole movie, after seeing all the best parts in It Came From Hollywood, I was disappointed in the movie because you don’t see the monsters until the end.

Alien (1979) would be my go to on this but I don’t think it falls in the WTF category like the Thing, So I would have to with the Deadly Spawn.

I was hoping someone was going to mention Deadly Spawn. So original and crazy scary.

I think the creature from The Suckling is a WTF little monster. It’s a little reminiscent of Nightbeast but with bigger teeth. That and the monster from Creature from the Haunted Sea is just WTF in the sense of how cheap and ridiculous it is!

Don’t think I’ve seen The Suckling but I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of it. Will have to check it out. And I’ve always loved the Creature from the Haunted Sea. Do much fun.

I’m not sure if this counts as a creature or not, but the “Shunt” collective, the big, messy mass of humanity all conjoined and sucking on each other and pulling each other inside out in SOCIETY. It’s a WTF 20 minutes of cinema if nothing else.

Society really defines WTF.

The mold/fungus creature that inhabits bodies, covers them with oily spikes and twists them up and gives them weird motion from SPLINTER.

I thought about that one too. Great movie and very unique monster.

The meat monster from JOHN DIES IN THE END. Bonus points for the dick doorknob.

Surprised no one has listed The Ritual (2017) yet. I was totally knocked out by the creature design on that one.
Speaking of which, I think The Pale Man from Pan’s Labyrinth definitely qualifies. Unnerving.

And Belial from Basket Case, particularly the final scene where he’s trying to make it with Duane’s gf. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

DEFINITELY! Damn…need to watch that again.

I loved the satyr from Pan’s Labyrinth even more than the pale man, but I wasn’t sure he counted since he wasn’t a threat and didn’t need to be killed but the pale man certainly counts in my mind!

I vote for the WTF creature-thing revealed in the underground laboratory at the finale of Paul Naschy’s “Hunchback of the Morgue” (1973).

I am going to go old school and go with the Tabanga from ‘From Hell It Came’.

This one was another one I experienced for the first time in It Came From Hollywood, with the creature that “like to chase men in skirts” Just love it.
