Next month, Super-Horror-Rama returns to Sideshow Gelato for another round of films that truly celebrate the Turkey. Not the one you eat, but the one you watch!

Each Thursday in November (except the 28th for obvious reasons), they will be screening a very special “bird” movie. On the 7th, it is the ultimate giant turkey movie, The Giant Claw (1957). Starring Jeff Morrow and Mara Corday, they have to do battle with a creature “as big as a battleship” and flying so fast that it doesn’t show up on radar. While everyone in the film is playing it completely straight, it might be due to the fact that they never saw the title creature until the film was released. But as cheesy as the creature is, the film is still a lot of fun.

Curators . . . Not Collectors

I’ve been a movie poster collector for over 30 years. The cost of what I will spend has gone up a bit over those three decades. In the past, the thought of spending $50 on a single poster was way too much for me to even consider. Then I saw an American 1-sheet for The Green Slime for $50. I bought it instantly. Now, I’m still not one of these big-time collectors, spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on them, mainly just because of my budget. But what I will spend has increased to even dropping $175 for an Astro Zombies 1-sheet. I mean, it’s Ted V. Mikels!

Super Horror Rama at Facets!

House of Movie Monsters is having a 3-day event at Facets in Chicago, on October 13th-15th, with vendors and movies screening all 3 days! If we weren’t going to be at Monster Bash in PA that weekend, we definitely would be there for all 3 days, so we are very bummed about that. But even though we can’t be there, we wanted to help get the word out because horror fans need to help promote each other!
