I know that that title is how I felt leaving the Midway Drive-in in the wee hours this morning. I’m going on about 3-4 hours of sleep as I write this, so I apologize for any typos or ramblings that don’t make much sense, but I wanted to get this posted. Yesterday, we were at the Midway Drive-in in Sterling, IL for their Dust to Dawn Romero Fest, where they screened George Romero’s zombie trilogy, Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1978), Day of the Dead (1985), as well as The Crazies (1973) to round out the night. Honestly, I think The Crazies fits perfectly into that series since while they might not be zombies, the themes are pretty close and still very effective.

Super Monster Movie Fest Lineup!
The Skyline Drive-in, in Shelbyville, IN, has announced their lineup for this year’s Super Monster Movie Fest and it’s one hell of a collection of Metal Monsters coming to invade! There is free camping and the one and only Sammy Terry live on stage each night! We’ve been making this an annual trip for us, staying the whole weekend and just having a great time. Whether you’re camping out at the drive-in, or crashing at one of the local hotels, there is plenty to do to keep you busy. There is plenty of tasty treats at the snack bar to keep that belly full and they usually have a bunch of vendors set up there as well, so bring some extra spending money.

Save the date! August 23rd & 24th, for this year’s Super Monster Movie Fest at the Skyline Drive-in, located in Shelbyville, IN. We’ve been heading down there every August for over the last decade and ALWAYS have a great time. Don’t know what the titles they’re screening are yet, but from the banner above, it looks like we might have some trouble with robots this time out! We’ll post again about the event once the titles have been announced, so stay tuned.

The Skyline Drive-in has announced the first 4 titles for this year’s Super Monster Movie Fest, taking place on August 25th & 26th. The theme this year is Frozen Frights, so the films will be taking place either during the winter, or something to do with the cold!
On Friday, they will be screening Krampus (2015) and the original The Thing from Another World (1951), and on Saturday, they will be screening the original The Invisible Man (1933) and John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982).

While I’m patiently waiting for the Skyline Drive-In in Shelbyville, IN to post their lineup for this years Super Monster Movie Fest, there are a couple of other great movie fests coming up at the Mahoning Drive-In Theater in Pennsylvania. While it’s a mere 12-hour drive for me, I’ve done crazier things in my life. But here’s what they have their docket.
Dusk-To-Dawn Horrorfest at Midway Drive-in

Okay drive-in fans, here’s the date for the Midway Drive-In’s annual Dusk-To-Dawn Horrorfest: Sept. 23rd! So mark your calendar!
So far, they have only announced two of the four features they will be screening. The first one is the full uncut version of James Cameron’s Aliens. I think the last time I got to see this on the big screen when it was first released, but that was the shorter theatrical cut. So this will be a nice treat.

The second feature announced is Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. I’m not a huge fan of the later films in this series, but this one is still a lot of fun. Great special effects on display here!

We will be set up outside the concession area, as always. Along side Jill & Greg from Lix, you’ll be able to do a little shopping in between the films and picking up some snacks at the concession stands. Hope to see you there!

Come and Celebrate the Drive-In!
Sure, this might not be the first time I’ve waved this flag, but there are a couple of events coming up that I wanted to bring to everyone’s attention. As I’ve posted before, next weekend the Kitley crew will be heading down just south of Indianapolis, to the Skyline Drive-in in Shelbyville. The are holding their annual 3-night all night monster movie marathon. We won’t be leaving until late on Friday but am still hoping to catch the last 3 titles scheduled. Then we will be staying over night and catching all 5 titles on Saturday night. Having the opportunity to see films like Tarantula, Horror Express, Island of Lost Souls, not to mention the original King Kong, really is like dream come true for a movie nut like me. But the drive-in is so much more than just the movies. Yes, it is a great time, but it is also that step back into time, when going to the drive-in really was an experience and one that is remembered for years to come. You can get all the information about this even HERE.
