With the release of his version of Frankenstein, it was only natural that there would be some books put out on the making of it, and here they are. Buckle up though, because one of them is a bit pricy, but like most of the books on del Toro’s work, I’m sure it will be well worth it.

The first one is from Titan Books and called Frankenstein: Written and Directed by Guillermo del Toro, which becomes available today! The retail for this hardcover edition is a hefty $75, but for that, you get a look inside of this newest version of Mary Shelley’s monstrous tale. Inside, you’ll get exclusive interviews with the director, cast and production crew, filled with plenty of candid shots from the set, storyboards, costumes, concept art, as well as learning about the locations, period-specific props, and an insight into del Toro’s filmmaking process.
This coffee table size book is 334 pages and might be an investment, but I have a feeling if you love del Toro’s work, and are a big Frankenstein fan, as I am of both, you’ll might want to add this to your library.
For less than half of that price though (or another $30 if you’re like me), there is also Frankenstein: The Complete Screenplay: Written and Directed by Guillermo del Toro, also published by Insight Editions. Not only does it have the complete script of the film, but it also has some concept art, film stills, and behind-the-scenes photos. This one will be released on November 25th.
