This weekend, we are heading to our last real convention, Monster Bash, which is taking place in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. They have a great guest lineup, including Gary Clarke from How to Make a Monster, Kathryn Leigh Scott and Sharon Smyth from the original Dark Shadows series, Barbara Wilson from Blood of Dracula, Invasion of the Animal People aka Terror in the Midnight Sun, and The Flesh Eaters, John Russo from the original Night of the Living Dead, and more. You can get all the info by clicking HERE.
This show is always a lot of fun, with plenty of great classic movies being screened all weekend, and a dealer room full of classic horror fun! We’ll be there with plenty of our usual books and my wife Dawn will also have plenty of pillows and tote bags!
Then next Saturday, we’re not having to travel nearly as far, by just going into Chicago for this year’s Music Box of Horrors, at Chicago’s amazing Music Box Theatre. If you don’t have a ticket already, I’m afraid it has already sold out. In fact, it sold out a little more than 24 hours that they went on sale!!! And that was way before the entire lineup had been announced! It just shows you how popular this event is.
They are screening some amazing titles like Lemora: A Child’s Tale of the Supernatural (1973) from a 16mm print, Dario Argento’s Inferno (1980) on 35mm, and the one I’m most excited about, director Ishiro Hondo’s Matango (1963) from a 35mm print! Plus, plenty of other great titles to keep you entertained. Just click HERE to get the full lineup.
We’ll be set up in the lounge as usual, so if you’re looking for some great books to learn more about the horror genre, look no further! Plus, we always love talking to other horror fans about the genre!
After that, we’ll go back into hibernation until Convention season starts next year, usually in March. Granted, there is still plenty of stuff to do for the rest of the month. The Music Box has plenty of great horrors screening through the rest of the month. But there could be some big changes coming next year as far as our 2026 World Tour. Maybe some new stops? Maybe not doing some of our usual ones? Hard to say at this point, but we’ll let you know when we make those decisions. Until then, keep enjoying the season and hopefully we’ll see you at some point this month!
