The next stop on this year’s World Tour is at the Columbus Movie Picture Show. Formally known as Cinevent, which was one of the longest running movie memorabilia show around, it changed ownership and name a few years ago. We started vending at them back in 2016 and have always really enjoyed ourselves there. It’s nice to see a show like the ones I used to attend back in the 90s, when it was more about the memorabilia than overpriced autographs. We couldn’t make it to last year’s show but are back this year to have a blast like we usually do!
But with this year, the show has moved out of downtown Columbus, now taking place at the Crowne Plaza North. Now, as much as I liked being able to walk to a variety of different restaurants, it was just a bit pricy, from the hotel, the parking, and everything else. So, we’re thrilled that they have moved it to the north part of Columbus!
Now, this isn’t a horror-themed convention, but for all genres of film. There is a film room going all weekend, but it usually has silents older classic films, but a nice variety for classic film fans. Every now and then, they’ll program a horror title. In fact, this year, on Thursday night at 10:45pm, they are screening Bert I. Gordon’s Beginning of the End (1957). Every year I’ve attended, I’ve always come back with a few things for my own collection. You’ll see a range of prices from the very expensive to very cheap. You just have to have to take the time to search. While it might not be great for the back and arms, it’s a lot more fun than going through pages and pages on eBay! And you just never know little gem what you’re going to stumble across.
It takes place from May 22nd to May 25th, with over 100 vendors, and plenty to see, plenty to do, and plenty to spend your money on! They also have several authors throughout the weekend, doing lectures, introductions, and signings. For all the information you need, head over to their website by clicking HERE. Hopefully we’ll see you there!
