My vacation days tend to be used for conventions, usually just taking Friday or maybe Friday/Monday off, then back to the real world. But this year, I had some vacation time to kill so I had planned on taking the last week of October off, with the goal of just using it to spend time enjoying the last of the Holiday season. Sure, I’d like to spend the whole month doing that, but there is a bunch of stuff going on throughout the month, such as conventions, 24-hour marathons, and plenty of other stuff that tends to keep me pretty busy. Which is why I was originally looking forward to this break from the busyness that October is. But as it happens, those days were quickly filled with all sorts of things to do, all of which I planned out myself. Meaning, no one to blame but me!
During that week, I traveled through multiple states, met plenty of old friends, made new friends, and just had a great time, even when having sharp little needles stabbing me for over 5 hours. Okay, maybe that last part wasn’t fun, or at least that last couple of hours of it! Again, all the choices that I made.
I wanted to record these events here, telling the tale, if you will, to remind everyone out there reading this, just how important it is to take the time to really enjoy life as it quickly flies by. Now more than ever, honestly. If we don’t take the time to do this, it really will be gone before you know it. Take a minute to stop and enjoy the moment. Plan a little event, even if it is just going to see a movie or something or going to visit and spending some time with friends that you don’t see often. Take the time before you don’t have it. To quote a song lyric from the band Savatage that I always try to remind myself, “I wasted time until time waste me.” True words, my friends.
Over the next few days, I’ll be posting about the events that took place over my little break from reality, so I hope you enjoy. And just because our favorite season is officially over, we know that every day is Halloween so that means we can continue on in that same spirit.
