Next month, Super-Horror-Rama returns to Sideshow Gelato for another round of films that truly celebrate the Turkey. Not the one you eat, but the one you watch!
Each Thursday in November (except the 28th for obvious reasons), they will be screening a very special “bird” movie. On the 7th, it is the ultimate giant turkey movie, The Giant Claw (1957). Starring Jeff Morrow and Mara Corday, they have to do battle with a creature “as big as a battleship” and flying so fast that it doesn’t show up on radar. While everyone in the film is playing it completely straight, it might be due to the fact that they never saw the title creature until the film was released. But as cheesy as the creature is, the film is still a lot of fun.
Then on the 14th, you have a film that needs to be seen to believe that it actually exists. Produced by a religious group that wanted a film to show the perils of drug use and promiscuity, they hired Brad Grinter, a name in the low budget independent world of filmmaking, who, along with Steve Hawkes, wrote and star in the 1972 epic known as Blood Freak. Hawkes stars as Herschel, a young man who just happens to be passing through town and becomes friends with a young girl who takes him home to meet her sister and friends, who all like to do drugs and party. Even stranger when Herschel gets a job on a turkey farm and gets to eat a turkey that the lab boys have been experimenting on. Next thing you know, Herschel has a turkey head and is running around killing people to drink their blood. Again, must be seen to believed.
Then on the 21st, they are screening Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006) which comes from the demented mind of Lloyd Kaufman and Troma Entertainment. If you’re familiar with the work of Kaufman and Troma, then you know what to expect here!
Each event starts at 6pm with a Social Hour with a live music by DJ Pexcie. At 7pm, there is a short feature and some giveaways from House of Movie Monsters, then an intro by Drive-In Asylum, and then the feature presentation starts at 7:30pm.
There are only 40 seats so get your ticket early. You can order them by clicking HERE.
