Thanks to Facebook, I was reminded that yesterday was when we had the official book launch for my book, Discover the Horror. It’s hard to believe that it has been that long, especially when it took me about 5 years to get it completed! But I’m still proud of it and what I’ve accomplished with it.
When I set out in the beginning, trying to figure out just what kind of book it was going to be, I realized that the only thing that I knew more about than anybody else was my own experiences with the horror genre. But yet, I did share a lot of experiences with other fans, no matter what year they were born, or when they started down the path of being a horror fan. I’ve said before that being a fan is not a race, but a journey. Sometimes that path takes you off the main road at times, but you can still find some pretty interesting films when you do go wandering off, but always coming back to the main road.
I was worried at first that maybe my stories would only connect with fans of a certain age. But I tried to write it in a way that would go beyond an age bracket, to maybe resonate with the Monster Kid age, along with maybe someone taking their first steps in being a lifelong fan of the horror genre. And I think I succeeded. And the only reason I say that is from what I’ve heard from people that have read it and told me, from people older than me too those much younger. It still resonates with them.
Because of that, no matter what else I’ve done in my “career”, I know that I have made some sort of impact to a few fans out there. And for that, I can never be grateful enough.
If you are one that has picked up a copy of my book over the last 5 years, whether it be from me personally at a convention, or through the mail or Amazon, I thank you once again. If you have, if you could please just post a quite review on Amazon, it still helps with getting the word out. Even though it’s been out for 5 years, what is in there still is just as relevant now as it was then. And it doesn’t have to be an essay, but just a few words. It helps Amazon get it out there for more to see.
Your support and comments always give me that pat on the back (sometimes when I really needed it too!) and keep me going.
If you haven’t picked up a copy, and want to, you can either get it from me at one of the many conventions and events we set up each year, or you can order it directly from me and get it signed for free! Or you can always get it off Amazon as well. For all the info, head over HERE for all the details.
But again, thank everyone for their support, their friendship, and their shared love of the horror genre! And remember, keep Discovering the Horror!
And if you care to watch it, the below video is the Q&A we did at the book launch at the Music Box Theatre, where we had just screened The Giant Claw (1957), run by my dear friend, Aaron Christensen.

“I realized that the only thing that I knew more about than anybody else was my own experiences with the horror genre.”
Yep, same here.
