The full lineup for this year’s Music Box of Horrors has been announced on their website, and it looks like one hell of a 24 hours to spend with other like-minded horror fans! Although, the ones crazy enough to come out for a 24-hour marathon aren’t just fans, but dedicated deviants that want to revel and dwell in these amazing horror titles. And I love them for that!
To make the marathon even better, the Music Box has once again filled up their lobby and lounge with a wide variety of vendors to help you pick up some great stuff! I know we are so excited to make our return to vending at this event, but there are plenty of other great vendors like Pretty Spooky Handmades, House of Monsters, Vinegar Syndrome, Severin Films, Graveface Records, and more! Make sure you stop by and check all the vendors out! And of course, stop by and see us at the Kitley’s Krypt booth!
For all the latest information, head over to the Music Box’s page for this event HERE, and also check out their main site (HERE) to see all the other great stuff they are screening!
Below is the full lineup with the start times:
12:00pm – The Fall of the House of Usher (1928), screened from DCP format and featuring a live score by the Alvin Cobb Jr. Trio.
1:20pm – Burnt Offerings (1976), director Dan Curtis’ amazing haunted house film with an all-star cast, screening from a 35mm print (!!!).
3:35pm – Ozone (1995), director J.R. Bookwalter’s different take on the zombie genre, and is one of the best and earliest SOV films, with actor James Black in attendance for a post-film Q&A. Screen from a VHS to DCP format.
5:40pm – The Convent (2000), director Mike Mendez’s crazy flick about a group of college students break into an old, abandoned convent and become possessed by demons. Has one of the best opening sequences ever! Also co-stars Adrienne Barbeau. Screened from a 35mm print!
7:15pm – [REC] (2007), from directors Jaume Balagueró & Paco Plaza, giving us not only one of the most original zombie films of the 2000s, but just one hell of a ride. This is the screening not to be missed.
8::45pm – Eight Eyes (2023), director Austin Jennings’ first feature film, a Vinegar Syndrome Original, has been making a lot of noise on the festival runs. Jennings will be in attendance for a post-film Q&A as well.
11:00pm – Candyman (1992), director Benard Rose’s film that started the Candyman series, screening from a 35mm print.
12:55am – Haze (2005), famed Tetsuo director Shin’ya Tsukamoto short film about a man trapped in a concrete maze. Coming from Tsukamoto, it will definitely be interesting!
1:50am – Demon Witch Child (1975), Amando de Ossorio, the creator of the Blind Dead series, gives us a tale of possession of a young girl, though here it is done by witches, not demons. A fun little treat for late-late show! Screened from 35mm.
3:30am – Sorority House Massacre (1986), writer/director Carol Frank’s take on the college-based slasher genre. Screen from DCP.
5:05am – Piranha II: The Spawning (1981), director James Cameron gives us a movie with flying flesh-eating fish to break in the morning! What more could you ask for, other than it being screened from a 35mm print!
6:05am – Child’s Play 3 (1991), the second sequel to the original series, which may not be as good as the original, but in a crowded theater of sleepy fans, this one should be a lot of fun! Screened from a 35mm print.
8:35am – Frailty (2001), actor Bill Paxton feature film debut as a director, and gives us a chilling tale of belief and family. Screened from 35mm.
10:25am – Casper (1995), from director Brad Silberling, a fun little ghost flick to cleanse the pallet and send you off back into the world of the living, wandering the streets of Chicago just like a ghost! Screening from a 35mm print.
