I can’t remember how long it’s been, but ever since Mike and Mia Kerz took over the Midway Drive-In in Dixon, IL, and started doing these old-fashioned all night horror movie marathons, we’ve been there! And now that they’ve announced this year’s lineup, I know I am, as always, excited to do it all over again!
Taking place on September 16th, they will be screening the following features:
Child’s Play (1988)
The Return of the Living Dead (1985)
Slumber Party Massacre (1983)
Frankenhooker (1990)
You’ll have the chance to see the original film that gave birth to one of the most popular killer dolls in cinematic history, Child’s Play! While the sequels maybe wear a little thin, I think the original still holds up.
Of course, for me personally, the highlight of the evening will be the seeing The Return of the Living Dead on the huge 90 ft. screen! That movie never gets old and is always so much fun. So, it will be even more so at the drive-in! Make sure to bring extra BRAINS!
Speaking of classics, how about the infamous slasher film from the ’80s, with a killer running around with a large power drill that he uses to dispatch his victims!?!? That’s right, Slumber Party Massacre! This spawned two sequels and even a remake in 2021! Another one just perfect for the drive-in experience!
Lastly, and there is probably a reason this is screening last (!!!), but we have Frank Henenlotter’s Frankenstein story gone awry, Frankenhooker! Make sure you bring your own date!
There will be vendors there set up as usual (including us!), plenty of great food from the concession stand (can you say corndog???), and just a perfect way to celebrate the horror genre, the drive-in, and just have a lot of fun. Mark your calendar and we will see you there! For all the latest info, head over the the Midway Drive-in website HERE.
