I know there hasn’t been a lot of updates this month, but I’m working on getting that back to normal, with several updates a week. Been a strange month, with trying to get ready for the holidays, and now the lovely drop in temps here in the Midwest, making me finally put on a coat over my hoodie. But everyone at the Krypt is still alive and kickin’ and ready for the new year to start. I’ve also been working on my Year End Reviews which always takes a lot longer than I anticipate. But the work is there, and it is coming.
I did want to take a quick second for this post to wish everyone out there a Very Scary Axemass, and Happy Horror-Days! No matter what you celebrate, whatever you choose to follow, let us all hope that we are all working towards a positive direction. Being kind to your fellow person is the easiest and most effective way to start that change. Be a little more tolerant to those around you, because you have no idea what they have been dealing with. Always error on the side of kindness. I know it’s tough, especially this time of year when the stress levels usually rise. I always thought that was the most ironic thing about this time of year, when we’re all supposed to be wishing for peace on Earth, as long as these idiots at the checkout counter hurry up, right? So, let’s all calm down, enjoy the memories, relish in those friendships you have, and send out some positive messages to someone. Not positive thoughts, because we all know if those worked, we wouldn’t have cancer, missing children, and all the other crap going on in this world. But an email, a phone call, or even a text to someone, even if it is a random stranger, with a positive message, can do a lot for someone, and it really doesn’t take long. But the payback you get could be more than you can imagine.
Case in point. Earlier this year, I received a postcard in my PO box. No idea who it was from because they didn’t sign it. All they wrote was the following message: “Thank you for your efforts in keeping the classic and unknown horror alive. What you do is wonderful. Thank you.” I keep that postcard on my desk and anytime I even remotely question what I’m doing and if it is worth it, I look at that postcard and know that I am making an impact. I am forever grateful to whoever did send that but am asking everyone out there to do the same with someone you know. You never know how a simple moment can really affect someone’s life.
Okay, sorry for all the non-horror, sentimental crap, but I hope that in 2023, we can continue to make positive strides towards making this short time on this planet a happy one.
