I’ve been enjoying del Toro’s work since his debut feature Cronos (1993) and loved most of his work since then. This might be a little older news, but when I read about a new series that he has created for Netflix, I was immediately intrigued. The series is called either Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, or just 10 After Midnight (which is how it is listed on IMDB), which is going to consist of 10 different episodes, each helmed by a different director. Though I think del Toro himself will be directing an episode himself.
The other directors listed are Ana Lily Amipour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, 2014), Panos Cosmatos (Mandy, 2018), Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, 2008), Jennifer Kent (The Babadook, 2014 & The Nightingale, 2018), Vincenzo Natali (Cube, 1997 & Splice, 2009), Guillermo Navarro (Cinematographer on a lot of del Toro’s films), David Prior (The Empty Man, 2020), and Keith Thomas (The Vigil, 2019).
The cast consists of names like Ben Barnes, Andrew Lincoln, Crispin Glover, Tim Blake Nelson, Rupert Grint, Essie Davis, Peter Weller, F. Murray Abraham, David Hewlett, Sebastian Roché, and many more.
No word on when this series will be hitting the streaming service, but production was starting in Toronto. According to the article on Nerdist.com, the series is a “collection of unprecedented and genre-defining stories meant to challenge our traditional notions of horror. From macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy, these eight equally sophisticated and sinister tales (including two original works by del Toro) will be brought to life by a team of writers and directors personally chosen by del Toro.”

How exciting! I look forward to seeing it when it releases.
