Wow. Just …. Wow. Within 24 hours of the Mahoning Drive-In Theater posting their cry for help, after learning that their home for the last 72 years, was in peril, the help came in support from around the county. It seems that Greenskies Clean Energy was not completely informed of the situation and once they did, getting and seeing all the comments from the drive-in community, they backed out of the deal, not wanting to shut down what was obviously a successful business. So major kudos to Greenskies for doing the right thing and showing their own support.

In the times where social media can be such an evil presence, destroying careers, or even one’s personal life, from being a celebrity to just an ordinary person trying to live their life, it gives me hope that this monkey on our back can still be used for good. Being able to gather so much support in under 24 hours, shows its power and it’s reach. Had this happened before Facebook, Twitter, and the like, most likely the Mahoning would be already gone before most people even heard the news.

So a HUGE thank you for everyone out there who sent in emails, used the power of social media, shared the posts and stories. It is because of the fans like us, that we were able to keep this amazing place going for generations to come.

Now, one of these days, I’m going to finally make the drive all the way out there and visit this historic drive-in.
