Our good friend Aaron Christensen is doing his annual Scare-A-Thon, this time putting attention to the Amazon by raising money for Amazon Watch. No, this isn’t anything to do with ordering stuff online or watching streaming movies, but to help the Amazon rain forest and the people that live there. And its pretty simple to help AC in his quest.

He is planning to watch and review 31 movies during the month of October, one for each day of the month. He is asking for support, pledging whatever dollar amount per movie title. For example, if you to pledge $.10 per movie, it would be a donation of $3.10 for the month. If you went to a $1 per movie, then it would be $31 total. Seems pretty easy, doesn’t it? Or you can always just donate a single amount if that is easier. Plus, all donations are tax-deductible.

So maybe put off buying one or two Blu-rays this month and instead put that money where it can help not only people in that region, but the world itself. Doesn’t seem that much money, does it? But just imagine that if everyone did that around the country, how much help we could all do?!?! Not to mention the fact that it shows that us crazy horror fans aren’t the degenerate evil beings that some think we are!

Each year, AC pics a cause, hoping to raise money for it by “caring through scaring” and I think spreading the word in definitely in need. With all the negativity going on in the world each and every day, let us take a moment and go beyond our political beliefs, our religious following, and give for a reason that is good, no matter what we choose to or choose not to believe in. A positive force is a good one, no matter who or what is behind it.
