A Time of the Turkey and a Time of Thanks

turkeyday

First and foremost, a Happy Turkey Day to all of our followers out there. While most consider this a time of a huge dinner and spending time with family, here at the Krypt, we celebrate the Turkey a little differently. While we will have a nice family dinner today, more time will be spent prepping for our annual Turkey Day Marathon that takes place tomorrow, where friends will gather here to watch what like we like to call some of the finest in cinematic shipwrecks. These are not bad movies, mind you, because remember, the only bad movies are boring ones, and what we watch definitely aren’t boring.

Which brings me to what I’m thankful for. I’m thankful to have a wife and son that will spend hours over the next two days prepping and making close to 20 pizzas tomorrow for a bunch of us crazy cinephiles that will gather together once again to celebrating these movies. Each year, I wonder if these guys are coming here to watch the films or just to eat the pizzas! But Dawn and Nick continue to make me proud by their dedication to this event and their creative culinary skills and I am so proud of them and so thankful that they continue to let me stay here in the house with them. And with Nick starting a new career endeavor next year, nothing is making me more proud than to see him follow a career path that he is passionate about. Because when it comes down to it, feeding one’s passion, is the only way to enjoy life.

I’m also thankful for having such great friends that wish to trek out here to the Krypt, avoiding the usual Black Friday shopping insanity that is going on, to sit and watch movies all day. It really has become a tradition with us and I am so honored to call these people my friends. The passion that we all share for movies in general, not just the epic classics, but those of the lesser quality and talent, that we can still take (sometimes pulling and screaming) enjoyment out of them, makes this day even better. It wouldn’t be nowhere near as fun without them here.

But even beyond the friends that will be coming over this Friday, I am so ever thankful and grateful to have so many others that we consider close friends, many of which we’ve met and stay in contact with through the many conventions we attend each year. You guys are one of the main reasons we continue to do what we do. You make the shows so much fun to hang out with and have those serious and sometime even heated discussions about movies. Our shared passion continues to fuel my fire to continue what I do. So thank you.

Unholy Three

I am thankful for each and every one of you that follows what I do here at the Krypt. I started this 20 years ago as my little soapbox in the World Wide Web, and two decades later, I’m still doing it and still loving every second of it. To the ones that have been following the Krypt online for years, or ones that have just stumbled upon us recently, thank you. Thank you for taking the time and stopping by and reading our little thoughts. You are one of the reasons I continue to do what I do.

I am thankful to the ones that continue to read my ramblings in my column and articles in HorrorHound  and Evilspeak magazines. I thank you for your continued support and hope you have found many new movie titles to seek out.

And last but not least by any means, I am so very thankful to have a wife that continues to let me do what I do and joins me in these crazy adventures throughout the year, from conventions, to drive-in theaters, to 24-hour movie marathons. I wouldn’t be the person I am without her.
