Next weekend, we’ll be heading to Columbus, Ohio for our next stop in the 2018 Kryptic World Tour. We’ve been going to this show for the last couple of years and have a lot of fun. Granted, this isn’t like your normal movie convention since this one isn’t really about guests or celebrities, but about movie memorabilia. And lots of it. You’ll find tables with stacks and stacks of posters, lobby cards, and stills, just waiting for you to go through each stack, one by one! And when they are usually priced at a buck a piece, it makes you want to sit down and start!
Granted, there are other items that are a little more pricey than a dollar, but at least you can see some of these amazing old posters, like a huge 3-sheet, and be amazed at how much they are going for. Not that I’d ever indulge in that kind of collecting, but it is still cool to see them.
And of course, there is the people. The dealers at this show tend to be veterans of this business, doing it for many, many years. And all of them are die-hard movie fans. Sure, might not the horror fans like one of our normal shows, but still enough to make it worth us being there.
But believe it or not, this is Cinevent’s 50th Anniversary show. That’s right… for five decades these dealers and collectors have been coming together to celebrate films. So if you’re going to be in the area, hopefully we’ll see you there.

Good morning.I had to reply to the post you made re: a free event on academia of horror. I was probably as upset as you, because i left the article in frustration several times as your reported your experiences. I tell you what the problem is- so many ‘teachers’ approve themselves as experts in subjects they never had any idea about. I’m sure not ONE of them sat down to watch ANYTHING let alone understand it. This was evident as you reported a panelist had no clue of giallo, yet claims to be an expert in the genre! (LMFAO)And on yet another note: As the quality of US education declines, so do the teachers presenting it. You’re probably looking @ some tenured blow-hard, claiming to tell you what you already know, when it takes years, if not decades, to study, understand, & most of all ENJOY, horror! I’ve been a fan since i was a kid & I’m still learning & loving it all. They would surely be surprised that I consider YOU to be an expert in the field, as you probabaly know more than the whole panel combined. There-I said it, & feel much better for it, too, he he.
